One of our favorite places and the best small restaurant in ocean county! Food never misses, Chris is always an amazing server and the owner is always around chatting with folks! This place is hidden gem!

Everything was absolutely delicious! The octopus was amazing! The ricotta appetizer was so simple but so good! My husband and I both loved our dinners and the desserts were amazing too! We will be making this our new spot!

Wonderful cozy bistro, nice atmosphere. Our server Francesca was knowledgeable and her guidance led us to a delicious meal, every course was outstanding. We had the ricotta crostini with honey and truffle and the burrata and proscuitto apps, boullibaise and salmon with eggplant caponata for main courses with a side of roasted brussel sprouts with pork belly, finishing with creme brulee for dessert. All winners. Rue 561 Bistro has the ambiance, staff and menu that makes you want to come back. We certainly will!

The service is impeccable, the food exquisite - an A+++, and the atmosphere is perfect. I have a tendency to love to joke/mess around and they accept with understanding and grace. Our friends really enjoyed themselves and we finished every last morsel. You will enjoy the entire night!!

Got the porterhouse for two and it was excellent. Although it's pricey, you get two sides with it, so it turns out to be a good deal. Cooked perfectly, we thoroughly enjoyed it

One of the best restaurants in the area. Everything from octopus, to filet mignon and the specials are delicious. Everything is prepared with a beautiful appearance as well as tasty. The setting is very pleasant - formal, bit not overly so. Service is very attentive.

Our server was outstanding. The pork chop was dry and the wedge salad left a lot to be desired. The dressing was greasy and the chunks of blue cheese were very unsubstantial. It was a far cry from the traditional wedge salad to which we are accustomed.

We dined on a Sunday and were among the first tables seated at this BYOB bistro. The restaurant decor is lovely, but the many windows give on to the parking lot and the busy road beyond. Sheer or translucent light-filtering window treatments would add to the intimacy of the dining room before sunset. To start, we enjoyed the charcuterie board with 2 cheeses, 2 meats, grilled bread, olives, fruits, fig jam smear, and a morsel of honeycomb. The frenched chicken garnished with tomato and a slice of artichoke heart served over mashed potatoes with scampi sauce was moist, tender, and delicious, as was the bouillabaisse with fresh halibut that my husband enjoyed. The ample grilled broccolini were firm and tasty. For dessert, the churros with dipping sauces were very crunchy but a tad too dense. Service was kind and attentive. Overall, a very pleasant meal, if just a bit pricey for the experience.

The food is outstanding for a local restaurant. Probably the best in Toms River. Menu choices could use a fish option. If you're a meat lover this is your place. Prices are high but quality is excellent.
