The food and service were great they were very kind and very gentle. Although when I left the store, I am not at a time to leave Tips and they called me back to see if everything was OK and charge me the tips!!!! when I told them everything was OK. I know other choice to give them tips. unbelievable. and very, very expensive.

Pan fried dumplings were soggy. Not a lot of stuffing inside. Ordered a sushi roll and could not identify what was spicy tuna. Only thing redeeming about this place is the service and the ambiance. Come for drinks. That’s about it.

Unprofessional Experience Regarding Tipping
I’ve been to Sushi Lounge in Totowa several times and usually had a good experience with the food and service. However, during my recent visit, I encountered a very uncomfortable situation. After we finished our meal and were leaving, a waiter ran after us and stopped us at the door to ask why we didn’t leave a tip. The waiter even asked if there was an issue with the service, which there wasn’t—we simply chose not to leave a tip this time.
While I understand that tipping is a significant part of a server’s income, being confronted about it felt unprofessional and invasive. Tips are supposed to be a discretionary gesture, not a mandatory payment. When I called the manager ( he said his name was “Jason” ) afterward to explain my concerns, they responded by saying waiters rely on tips for their wages and he supported the idea of the waiter running after us. Mind you he stated the waiter stayed an additional 40 mins ?? We finished our meal about 10:00PM and didn’t get the waiter for the check and one more drink until 10:16ish and left the resultant prior to 10:45pm closing time. This only reinforced my frustration, as it felt like the restaurant is putting the burden of their compensation practices on customers.
This experience left me disappointed and unlikely to return, as it disrupted what should have been an enjoyable night out. I hope the management takes steps to address this behavior and ensures their staff handles similar situations more professionally in the future

Restaurantji Recommends
Def recommend stopping here, and when you do ask for Marissa as your waitress! Her knowledge of the menu and service were incredible! She walked us through each step of our experience, was super accommodating and very quick even though she had a few tables. I have a gluten allergy and she knew exactly what to recommend for me and made sure everything I ate was safe. The food was delicious and her service made the experience 10/10! By far the best server I’ve ever had

FOOD CAME OUT COLD BOTH TIMES , the steamed dumpling appetizers DID NOT come out steaming until their second try and the NY Strip Hibachi was undercooked , rice was cold, lo mein was warm and the vegetables were warmish like as if the entire thing was rewarmed after sitting there for a while before coming out,, steak was tough too . Sushi was pretty good tho …Don't recommend for eating unless you’re getting sushi .. slightly understaffed as well.
