Disappointed with DeLorenzo’s Pizza – A $22 Lesson Learned
I recently visited DeLorenzo’s Pizza on Sloan Ave after a recommendation from a friend, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. After waiting 30 minutes for my order, I arrived home to find a completely burnt pizza that was not even cut properly.
Despite giving it a chance, my family found the pizza nearly inedible due to the overwhelming burnt taste in every bite. In the end, we had no choice but to throw it away and cook something else instead. For $22, I expected much better quality, especially from an establishment with such a strong reputation.
This experience has left me frustrated, and I will not be returning. A simple attention to detail—ensuring the pizza is properly cooked and cut—could have made all the difference. Unfortunately, DeLorenzo’s fell short, and I cannot recommend it based on this visit.

Ordered a small pie from the internet. Price said $13. Picked it up and it was $18.45. She said they haven’t updated the website. Since 2010 would be my guess. Well at least it was great, right? No. It was awful. Tasted like frozen pizza. Dry flaky and flavorless crust, sauce was sparse and had large onions in it. Cheese was an afterthought and not much on it. The wlices were thin yet overly crunchy because it was so dry. Overall it was an $18.45 Tree Tavern pizza. And please spare me from telling me that I don’t know good pizza. I grew in Hoboken in the 70’s and 80’s and I lived the last 20 years in Nutley. I go to New Haven every year on a pizza tour with my friends and we go to the big 5 places. I know good pizza. This was crap.

I love their pizza I do but this is the perfect display of nepotism. The front counter guy HAS to be a relative because he should have been fired! He is extremely rude in person and over the phone. He picks up the phone with no hello and always a nasty "hold" and a slam down of the phone. He is not patient with foreigners or people that have never been there before that has questions. Someone wanted a small pie and his nasty, impatient, rude response "medium and large only". He's always out smoking a cigarette. And the door next to the carry-out parking space, he refuses to let customers picking up use it. What!?!? The whole staff can't stand him but continues to hold a job????

I ordered a few pizzas at around 12pm to be ready for a later time (6:30pm).
I arrived at 6:30pm to pick up the pizzas. They were not ready because there was some confusion in the translation of the order from the online service.
This, I am not upset about at all. These things happen. Sure, it's minorly annoying, and the restaurant should be aware that this type of service exists.
What I am upset about is that the cashier was visibly and verbally annoyed. He used dissagreeable and borderline violent language and was showing zero sympathy towards the situation. They claimed they had already made them earlier in the day and they had to give them away (which does suck for them, i acknowledge). He brought out the pizza chef as well, who both scalded me on my ordering process and made me feel entirely to blame. Zero apologies were made and they were angry and showing complete lack of understanding.
I watched the cashier also scald 3 or 4 other customers for not being as clear as he wanted for them. Correcting their language and degrading their use of their business.
This is absolute garbage service. You have 0 right to make a customer feel responsible for a mistake in the system and to be condescending to them. I will never even think once about ordering from here again.
Unbelievably deplorable and frustrating experience. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Customers since it was on Hamilton Ave. But twice now our take out orders were not ready even though orders placed later were served before us. Sad to say, its our last time here.

I had the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had in my life. Placed an order on doordash to pick up at 545. Walk in 544. Tell the guy at counter i placed an order. He was extremely rude and had a tantrum when i told him i placed through door dash and told me to call instead next time. You could not pay me to come back here

First impressions is that the floor was quite dirty being seated at the table. As we were seated the plates that were placed on the table were supposed to be white but they had black dingy areas in the center which wasn't appealing to the eyes. We ordered pizza and a salad. The house salad was expensive and served on a plate. Which I thought was odd. Tasted ok though. The "tomato pie" is basically just pizza. It was a bit floppy but the crust was nice and crispy. The pizza tasted pretty good. After the meal, I used the rest room and it was disgusting. No toilet paper. There was dirt and grime everywhere. I was thankful there was at least soap and paper towels. Im not sure if I'd eat from here again because if the floors are dirty and the bathroom is dirty what is going on in the kitchen?
