What I respect about this store is the manner in which the owners run it. You don't see people standing outside selling drugs as was happening outside the 2 bodegas in the neighborhood that I just moved from. The hot food is good and the cheesesteaks are plentiful and excellent. It is very close to where I live so it is very convenient.
While I have not tried the prepared food from Fernandez, this store is definitely the best in the neighborhood when it comes to small, corner grocery stores. Fernandez is the place to go when one is planning a carne asada. Their meat is fresh and of high quality and sliced to your desired thickness. Small place. Food is good. Price is even better. The medium pollo guisado is my go to. $6. It usually gives me food for dinner & left overs for lunch the next day. Chicken is cooked well. Rice is never dry. The older gentleman behind the counter is super friendly.
