I called to order food for pickup, first someone that obviously doesn't speak English? picked up, then she gave the phone to someone else, who answered me very strangely, my very simple question is can I make an order for pick up? All I heard are strange things then she hanged up in my face. Please be more professional your food looks good service should be the same.
I tried to order a sancocho on DoorDash, but couldn’t because their app was not updated with the items for the day. I called and tried to speak to the server to see if I could order something else and they send the sancocho, but they refused even though I explain it was for a pregnant lady. Giving all the excuses and refused to at least let me speak to a manager
I had a horrible experience here and will not be returning. I ordered some mangú breakfasts for take-out. At the register, the waitress asked if I was paying by card or cash, I said card, and I even left her a tip. She then asked if I wanted a receipt, which I said yes to. Once outside, I looked at the receipt and saw that a 20% service fee had been added — for a TAKE-OUT order.
I went back inside to ask about it, and the waitress told me it was a “new rule” from the owner and that there was nothing she could do. She said if I wanted to speak to the owner, I’d have to come back another day. I asked her to cancel the order and refund me, but she refused, saying it wasn’t allowed. I ended up returning the entire bag of food.
Shortly after, the owner called me directly and admitted that the service fee should only apply to dine-in, not take-out, and that this wasn’t the first time the waitress had done this. She apologized and offered to return the 20%, asking me to take the food. At that point, I was hungry, so I just left with the order.
Overall, the experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and misleading. Customers should never be charged hidden fees, especially for take-out. Even though the owner apologized, the fact that this has happened before says a lot. I won’t be back.

Food is great, service, not the best. 20% tip already added is crazy, worst when you don’t know and decided to eat in for a few empanadas.

Stepping into Juana’s was like entering a hospitality void where smiles go to die. I swear, the second I sat down, I felt like I'd already overstayed my welcome-by a decade. The service? Imagine asking for water and getting a sigh so heavy it could knock over a chair. Our waitress acted like my mom's menu question was a personal attack, rolling her eyes as if we'd interrupted her Sunday nap. It was Saturday afternoon, folks! Orders were forgotten faster than my dignity, and when I dared ask how many sides came with a dish-because, shockingly, the menu didn't say-our waitress snapped that the answer was obvious. Obvious to who, Sherlock? and when I asked for no-ice water, she served it hot-yes, hot!-with a side of attitude, saying, Well, you didn't want ice! I drink tap water daily, and even my sink doesn't pull that stunt. The restaurant was emptier than a ghost town, yet our waitress was too busy munching to care. We had to flag down another server for the check, who treated us like we'd asked for her firstborn. And the kicker? A mandatory twenty percent gratuity slapped on the bill, basically rewarding their apathy. As we left, I looked at our waitress, hoping for a flicker of effort-a half-smile, maybe? Nope. Just a glare of regret as she poured her soda like it was her only friend. I've had warmer service in European dives where I didn't speak the language. Juan's? It's where good dining dreams go to sulk.

Food was average and expensive for what it was. If your Spanish is not on point get ready for the wrong order. Went there late around 6:30pm. Sancacho was already out. Ordered dinner with one order black beans, one Colorado. Got both red. Food was room temp. Chicharon de pollo was the only good thing. Going back to churreria on 34st. Sorry Cuban bias.

Juana’s is a staple in my life! I’ve been coming here since high school—almost 15 years now—and it never disappoints. The passion fruit shake and tres golpes are always my favorites. The consistency and quality keep me coming back. Highly recommend!
