Not Impressed – Won’t Be Returning
I was really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
• Service: Very slow. We waited 40 minutes just to get bread, and water was not refilled unless we asked multiple times. It took about 45 minutes just to receive simple appetizers. The only question we were asked was what type of water we wanted—bottle or tap. We weren’t even informed that soda was an option.
• Food: Completely underwhelming. My husband’s pasta was undercooked—nowhere near al dente, while mine was dry with barely any sauce on top of the pasta. The food lacked flavor and was not what I’d consider true Italian cuisine.
• Atmosphere: It felt like a VFW hall or a high school cafeteria—just a bunch of tables thrown into a room with the kitchen in plain sight. One table was awkwardly placed right by the kitchen doors, meaning staff constantly passed by. The space was so cramped that a nearby group stood up to chat loudly to friends they met for long time in the middle of the room, making the tight quarters even more uncomfortable.
• Cleanliness: This was one of the biggest issues. The oil bottle on the table was murky, filled with old twigs and pepper, making it look unappetizing and unclean. Worst of all, as we left the restaurant, we encountered vomit all over the steps leading to our car—absolutely disgusting. The vomit was right out from their restaurant.
• Overall Experience: It was clear we weren’t the only ones disappointed, as we noticed meals being thrown away without guests wanting to take them home. That alone speaks volumes.
Between the slow service, bad food, uncomfortable setting, and cleanliness issues, we will not be returning.
Vegetarian options: Menu small which is good has gluten free options but I would be scared if you have an allergy not to go here.

Came with a party of 10+, the waiter was very professional. The food was great, I am picky with Italian food. We ordered many things across the board, no complaints from the table. The restaurant accommodated our eating restrictions and didn't give a "no" to any request. Very quaint, old school Italian restaurant feel.

I'm from the West Coast, so I don't have a lot of experience with good Italian restaurants, but this was some of the best Italian food I've ever had, down to the amazing flavor in their table olive oil. If I lived near here, I'd probably be here on a weekly basis. Highly recommend the linguine marechiare.

My wife and I went with friends while visiting New Jersey. We had a spectacular meal, starting with fried zucchini and mussels for the table. I had one of the specials, rigatoni with salmon and shrimp — incredibly delicious. Cannoli and biscotti were our desserts. Our server was friendly and helpful, and when he didn’t have an immediate answer (about the size of the mussels), the chef did.
I am told that some diners shy away from this restaurant because there are no cocktails. Silly diners! You can have a cocktail any old time. Food as good as Aldo's should not be missed.

We recently hosted a funeral repast with Aldo's Cucina and they did a superlative job accomodating 30 guests. The food was fresh and delicious, beautifully presented, and the service was outstanding.

My family goes here regularly. I had dental surgery two days ago and can only eat soft food, so I asked my mom to pick up soup for me. She told the owner and that wonderful man made me an amazing off-menu soup.

First time here. ( And Last) No one at the front door to tell us we have to wait to be seated or just pick a table. Few minutes later told we could sit anywhere. I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara. Others in our party ordered 2 different fish dishes. My dinner should've been called Salt with Tough Spaghetti. Unbelievably salty. And the spaghetti was very hard. It was not edible basically. I have never had pasta as that before. After a few forkfuls , i was done. My friends who ordered 2 diff fish dishes complained that they both received the same dish. They were told they were wrong. Really? At least their dishes were edible. A friend told me a few days later who lives in Wayne not to order the pasta as its usually tough to eat. And this was before i told her how i did receive a dish as that. Lessons Learned.

This place is underrated. The food is really good, authentic Italian, and the portions are great. The staff is very attentive. We had Motzrella Spiedini with Anchovy sauce. It was delicious. Most Italian restaurants don't have Spiedini on their menu. We've been there a few times, and it never disappoints with the food or service. It is in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Highly recommend.

Food and portions were very good. Only downside was if you're at a larger table it's a bit loud and conversations are tough.
Parking: Pretty level and straight in.

Happy to hear I found my old chef from my old favorite Italian restaurant. Missed the flavors and the choices at a price I can afford. It's a tiny place but man o man, I sure did miss this Chef Aldo s cooking.Have not been back to his previous bistro, la strega, since I heard about them on the news regarding their recent forced closure by the Board of Health.Good Luck Aldo and Yo, Thnx for being back in the kitchen! ! ! !
