Food and drinks are super overpriced. $20+ for house wine. $20+ for a Sex on the Beach. Although, I believe in restaurants setting the food and drink price points where it is high enough to deter the rug-rats from visiting, the pricing here was way above that price point.
The restaurant ambience felt tired and old. It was a bit dark. No comparison to the back in the day Son Cubano on 14th Street NYC. I was informed that the female guest can experience the best entertainment inside the ladies room. There’s a lady inside playing a Guira and dancing.
I would recommend Don Coqui a bit further north on Riverwalk.
Kid-friendliness: Not the type of restaurant for kids. When seeing kids at a restaurant such as this one in the evening it can kill a romantic vibe.

Our server Albert L was amazing. We went there for a birthday and he provided us with an amazing experience and made the birthday girl and the entire party feel special. If you get him as a server you are sure to have a beautiful experience and if the experience wasn’t enough the food and atmosphere were just as amazing.

We had a reservation for 9:30, didn’t get sat down until 10:30 because they “were waiting for a table to pay and leave”. We ordered our food and drinks everything came out on time, but the food was not good at all. Ordered camarones al ajillo and the shrimps were so overcooked I only ate 1 out of the 5 shrimps I didn’t even want to see what an entree tasted like at that point. My group was still eating (some in the bathroom because the food didn’t sit right) as we were approached by a lady with a camera harassing us to take photos as we continuously told her we’d like to wait for our whole group and had food in our mouth. Had she not been so rude and demanding maybe we would’ve bought photos.

The only thing this place has going for it is the location and decor. Beautiful NYC views. Food is overpriced and bland. Drinks are so so for the price. You are paying for views.

Last night we went to Son Cubano to celebrate our friend’s upcoming nuptials. We made our reservation 2 weeks ago for 7:15pm. They even called me the day before to confirm our party of 9, but ended up being 8 of us. We arrived at 7:17 and went right away to the hostess. She said we would be seated soon, but waited and waited for about 15 minutes. When I approached her, she said that we could go to the bar and when we were ready, we could ask for our table. But I disagreed with her because we were all very hungry and didn’t need to go to the bar. Several minutes later the hostess said she had a booth for us, mind you we are all grown women and there was no way 8 adult could fit in a booth. We even saw other booths with five adults and it fit just right. Then again, they convinced us to go to the bar… we had nice cocktails, but on empty stomachs, which was not a good idea. We asked the hostess again what was going on and she kept saying that the table for us had just finished their dessert and the check was dropped off… so we waited and waited… ended up we waited an hour and 35 minutes. We should’ve been comped a round of drinks or appetizers while we waited and waited.
I’m wondering what’s the point making a reservation, if you’re not seated anywhere near the time you’ve been granted the request!
Food was okay, my salmon was very small with an ice scoop of lobster mashed potatoes.
The waiter was fine. Not sure if I’ll be returning back to this place. I love cubano food and rather eat a smaller Cuban restaurant with tastier food.

Worst hospitality ever! We asked for a table by the view after making us wait for 20 minutes they gave us a table near a wall! It didn’t even have the view. When we asked they said that was the view section. Worst host! Very rude and the place is overhyped.
Food was terrible inedible, even the chicken fingers and fries left much to be desired. Fries were burnt and chicken over cooked. Pernil fatty no flavor. Skirt steak was actually flank steak no flavor. Very dissatisfied with flavor and quality. A waste of money. Will not return and will not recommend.
Great location, beautiful city views, great service, but the food quality and taste had declined from past visits.
