The most outstanding dining experience my wife and I have ever had, and we have dined in over twenty restaurants in France, mostly in Paris. The owner was welcoming and had a magnificent sense of humor, likewise our waiter who seemed like an old friend. My wife relished the discussions we had with them as she got to resuscitate her fluency in French. The food was superb from appetizer (crab crepe) to our main courses: duck and veal chop. Flavor exploded from my entree as it looked more like a tomahawk steak and was a carnivore's delight. This restaurant in Westfield is the place where brilliant memories are made.

Chez Catherine is our Go To restaurant for fine dining. We have been dining at Chez Catherine since the 1980's when it was owned by Catherine. After Stefan purchased the restaurant, we have continued. It's the best French restaurant in the state, and makes driving into the city unnecessary. The small dining room makes the experience intimate. The service is attentive and friendly, and Stefan and Milan have a great sense of humor. The menu is price fixed with either a 3 course or 4 course option. We usually choose the 3 course option. There is something for everyone on the menu, and the wine list is outstanding with something for every budget. Yesterday, we began with the Crab Crepe appetizer and the Foie Gras appetizer. Both were outstanding and the portions were ample. We chose a St. Emilion from the wine menu. My wife and I both ordered the Duck Breast. It was outstanding. For dessert, my wife had the raspberry souffle and I chose the Grand Marnier Panna Cotta. Both were delicious.

Chez Catherine never disappoints. It's been a couple of years since we've last been here and we honestly don't know why. The food is amazing and Stephan and the staff are so attentive and knowledgeable. We'll be back soon!

Chez Catherine is like a bit of Paris right here in NJ. Run, don't walk, to this gem of a restaurant! The attention to detail by the waitstaff is impeccable, as is the divine menu the chef creates. The escargot and Dover Sole Meunière are NOT to be missed. We can't say enough about Chez Catherine. It's a five star establishment in every way!!!

Every birthday is celebrated here. The food is exquisite and the service wonderful. If I close my eyes, I am transported to France with every bite. The foie gras is always top notch. Love the Sole Meunière and never a mistake to dip into the soufflé of the day. We shouldn't save dining here for only special occasions- it is that good!

My husband and I went for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The service was great and the food equally excellent. The (3) course Price Fixed menu has a good selections of different mains but it is not huge. I would recommend going.
Although the experience and cuisine is worthy of any special occasion. The food is superb and prepared well. The selections are imaginative and prepared well. At times the noise level, due to circumstances beyond their control, can be unpleasant. This time the attention to detail was not as refined nor attentive as in past visits. Stephane was charming and took great care as usual, however his 'second' did not live up to typical standards. This is certainly not the norm.

This is the note I sent to the restaurant after we left, and have received no response. Posting as a formal review: We just left your restaurant and I have to tell you, we were extremely disappointed with the service and the food. We had to wave down someone any time we needed something, the wait for menus was ridiculously long, not once did a waiter check on us to see if we needed anything or to ask how our food was, I personally ordered the scallops and was brought 3 scallops and 4 string beans- this is insane, especially for what we paid. For what you charge, the food and service should be exceptional, and both were far from it. I would have selected zero stars if I was able to.
