Fish tacos, appetizers, and mocktails were great. The shrimp tacos were dry. Cannot be the convenient location, and it has a fun bar.

The eggplant dish pictured was good the molé sauce was a little over the top.

ALWAYS an amazing experience. Hats off to the Chef.

Came to Maize for dinner with my toddler and husband to see what the hype was all about. Margarita was excellent. Was bummed my daughter didn’t have access to a high chair as they only have two and were being used. For a restaurant in a family friendly downtown there needs to be more high chairs available. Food was ok. Atmosphere 5 stars. Service was good. My daughter’s meal was also forgotten and did not come out with the main entree. Likely would come back for drinks and appetizers on a date night versus with my toddler.

Absolutely loved the food, the service, and the location. We were seated in the small center room and the noise was above what we would have preferred, but we will definitely return (and ask for a seat on the perimeter).

My husband and I had a lovely experience at Maize. We arrived a little early so sat at the bar for a drink before being seated for dinner. The drinks were great. At dinner, we had the nachos (no meat as I'm a vegetarian) and the mushroom tacos. Both were delicious. Our server (Jen M) was so sweet and attentive. Would go back.

Start your meal with a killer margarita and guac and chips. Then, move on to either the entrées or the taco plates. You can’t miss with anything here.

Smallish menu. Food was solid. Good selection of tequilas. Amateur service, not in line with upscale feel and pricing of the establishment. Pleasant server, but as if this is his first first few days ever doing this. Maybe if this was during busy service time, I could understand some of the gaps, but the place was still nearly empty when we sat down.

FYI , Chicken tacos contain PEANUTS no where does it state is contains them , nor was asked if we had allergies . Manager should’ve comped the bill , ruined our whole night . Wife almost had a full on attack. The server in no way at fault even though he could’ve asked . As the owner of the establishment do better .

5 stars doesn’t do this any justice but here we go.

The restaurant is gorgeous, the bar area is really cool with tvs , it was a weekday and packed but we were still able to get a table and have a few cocktails before our meal. Okay let’s get to the food!
We started our first course with the grouper tacos. I mean, to die for!! Fresh, flavorful and do not get me started on the sauces! I had to call just to make sure I got them right! Jalapeno tartar and sour orange sauce on thinly sliced fresh vegetables. I make my own tortillas and these put me to shame! Perfectly fried grouper in a cornmeal batter, fish was fresh and the taco held together perfectly. I’d give a kidney for these tacos. Then to our main, after my husband and I fought over who was getting the buttermilk mole chicken, I went with the servers suggestion to get the pulled pork and Mexican maque choux. It was love at first bite. Everything went so well together, every bit of color went together, u had crunch, creamy, rich and the corn bread to break up the heavy and savory. I would never have ordered it but I’m thankful our server did. For the life of me I can’t remember her name. The chicken was really well done as well but my husband gobbled it up and I wish he saved more for me 😂 We went a few weeks ago and wanted to write this sooner but here I am now! And we finished with the tres leches cake! Perfection! This restaurant is so welcomed here in our sweet little town! Can’t wait to go back! Best of luck to you!

First experience and I absolutely loved it. Jose the bartender was awesome, had some great conversations with him and made the experience a lot better than what I expected. Julianna, also was very sweet and helped me picked out the empanadas, which was fantastic. I live not too far from here and would highly recommend Maize for any first time people

Maize is a relatively new bar / restaurant in Westfield, NJ. My wife and I decided to stop by for their new brunch menu. The Mexican inspired food and drinks are beautiful enough to make anyone want to stop by and grab a bite. We sipped on the Round Trip and Maize Spritz while enjoying their take on Chicken & Waffles and the Carmel sauce French Toast, yum. The atmosphere and brightness of the bar space is pleasant to sit in and enjoy a meal with friends or alone. It was nice to finally check this off the list. We will be back with friends soon!
