After watching the health inspector get mad at the owner over and over AND OVER again, i knew this place was NOT going to be a repeat visit. Food wasn't great, and the health inspector was NOT amused with the owner tapping a warming light to get it to turn back on because it's faulty. Only come here if you're constipated.

We were in town for 2020 vacation and spotted this buffet - It looked good from the outside. The first disappointment was that they ADDED 15% GRATUITY to our bill and charged us for the meals immediately as we walked in. WHAT?? This put a bad taste in our mouths right away. The food was below average, and the service was below average. We went to the Red Oak Buffet the following night (which is right next door). WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Great food, great service! Same price. Red Oak Buffet is a really outstanding buffet. I'm very sorry we ate at the Rusty Rudder.

If I could give it negative stars I would. Went here for the breakfast buffet. It was the worse food ever. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. First of all when we got there everything was pretty empty so I told the lady so she said they will bring out fresh food. He brought out bacon and it didn’t even look cooked. The waffles were hard as a rock. The sausage, well so they say it was sausage I didn’t try cause I don’t know what it even looked like. The eggs had a funny taste. But they had hard boiled eggs and they were good. But then again the only way to mess them up is to under cook them. The French toast tasted nasty. They had no bread. So we decided to just take a loss and leave. I did tell the person there that it was horrible the worse food I ever tasted. The only thing she had to say was she was very sorry. Will never go there again

Please don’t go here to eat ! I can eat just about anything, but I really struggled with this place. I really would give it a negative star review if I could. I was wondering when I went in why there were literally thousands of people out side on the sidewalks and and the restaurant was practically empty! You really should trust the reviews on this place.

READ THE UPDATE AT THE END.DISGUSTING! Save your time, money, and stomach. Most of the "hot" dishes were lukewarm at best, some were just out and out cold. The peel and eat shrimp was slimy and mushy. My guess is that they were 2 or 3 days old, certainly not fresh. The crabs were tiny and were missing all of their claws. NEVER AGAIN. If I could give a negative 5, I would but one star is as low as I can go.UPDATE: I actually called the Cape May County Health Dept to register a complaint about the cold and slimy food. When I got the person who oversees the Wildwood area, the first thing he said to me was "was it The Rusty Rudder? " I was flabbergasted! I had not mentioned the name of the restaurant but he knew.

DO NOT EAT HERE. The food was so bad they managed to mess up Mac and cheese and box made cake. For $15 per adult and $8 a kid it's not even worth the money. The food was so bad my family felt sick and had to lay in the hotel beds for 1.5 hours before we felt decent enough to go on the rides at Morey's Piers. The roast beef was sitting out in the open for what looked to be hours if not days and the ribs had almost no meat on them. Overall if you decide to go eat here I'm warning you to expect very little. But if you have to money to eat her you might as well go to someplace else on the board walk like Mack's Pizza as we got a whole pizza made as we walked in for $25-$30 with drinks half of what we paid after the included 15% service tax at the Rusty Rudder. Then they wondered why the place full of tables were almost entirely empty. In all honesty if a 0 star rating or below was possible it would earn at least that as it is the worst food I've ever tasted in my life, infact I'd rather have peanut butter then their food and in allergic to peanut butter.

We are not satisfied. Overly priced. Food is terrible. Very plain and no flavor. Not many options, the ones they do are not very edible. We spent almost 90 dollars for a family of 5 and not satisfied. Shrimp and crabs the had were dirty. My son said his rice was hard. There Salmon was horrible. My daughter even said her marshmallows were hard. Had to wait awhile for strawberry. And a tip should be a choice. They force you to pay the minute you walk in with 15% tip included. It's a rip off stay away. Definitely go to Red Oak better options. Food there is actually edible. They only thing appealing there is one of the waiter's. Don't be fooled by the lady's charm when you walk in. Do yourself the favor walk out and go to Red Oak. That's a buffet.
