We left feeling shortchanged and hungry

The two “cod bite” meals came out as nine tiny pieces in total—four on my father’s plate, five on mine—and even together they wouldn’t make up three-quarters of a regular one-piece fish and chips. Each bit was barely the size of a small egg, if that.

The fries could have been excellent if they hadn’t been over salted. The gravy, however, had a raw flour flavor that made it unpleasant.

Our bill was $71.50 for those mains plus a kids hot dog meal that didn’t include a drink or dessert.

The $6.50 milkshake tasted like Nestle chocolate syrup.

It took roughly 35 minutes for food to arrive, which might be reasonable for a full meal but not when the order is cod bites, fries and a hot dog.

The server was polite, it bad but definately not happy to see us or be there. She never returned to check on us until my new was done, so we didn’t get a chance to order another drink.

By the 50-minute mark, we gave up on dessert rather than stretch the visit to well over an hour.

My father glanced at the seniors menu while we waited but didn't order from it as a half club sandwich is listed at $14, while a full one is only $16—meaning he would effectively pay $28 for the same thing that costs $16 on the regular menu.

As we left, I turned to him and said, “Want to go get a fish and chips, as we were still hungry.

That summed it up perfectly. The problem wasn’t the $72 bill—it was that there was no value for that money.

Had the bacon cheeseburger with a side of fries and it was great. Seating is limited and they don't take reservations, so it's a good idea to go before the rush.

Great food, but our server (long black hair, tattoos) was clearly in a bad mood and made my family very uncomfortable. I understand that life is hard sometimes but if you can't at least smile at customers you probably shouldn't have been there... Other than that the food was good and came fairly quickly.

Food was chewy (beef) and eggs was cook enough. For the amount I paid it should of been a lot better then what it was. Not impressed 😕.

Expected a ‘dirty bay feed’ but this food you could tell was cooked with so much more care and attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and the portion size matched the cost. Atmosphere was fun. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Only headsup is they get busy (because they’re a great restaurant!), so call ahead.

The hidden gem ( literally) in CBS. They had me at homemade sausage. Best breakfast on the island. I’m not kidding. You better go.

I was looking for a restaurant to eat in the area and decided on Vera’s. The menu outside the entrance is not the current menu but the offerings were good. The seafood chowder here for $15 was big ! It tasted so good and was honestly the best chowder I had during my entire trip in NL. Nobody else can compete. I have no idea why the $15 chowders in every restaurant I went to were so tiny and disappointing. I would come here just to eat this soup. That’s how tasty it is ! Seafood platter has great scallops and the batter was light and not caked on for a change (love that) ! This was the best place we ate at during the entire NL trip. Also, service from our waitress was very good. I love her kind attitude and patience as we had to check into our flight online while seated with our menus. It does get busy in here ! Would have loved to try a milkshake if I had room for one !
