Gave the place a visit after a recommendation by family. I'd say good food was great and service could be a bit more customer service focused - I get it that younger generations don't get it and one day they will with appropriate training (that's my constructive criticism). Aside from that great experience and ambience.

This cafe was doing a Christmas special, where if you bought something, you were entered in a draw for 6 bakery items, and we won!!!! The vibes were immaculate, the food delicious and we had fun playing board games. We deduct a star because the waitress removed a plate from our table without asking if we were done. Spoiler alert: we weren't.

Gluten free menu is delicious. I highly recommend for any travelling celiacs!!
Usually I do have a decent experience here..unfortunately not anymore. I ordered a panini and it first came out burnt so I sent it back, the second time it came out it had tomato on it which I cannot eat, I didn’t wanna bother them with a third sandwich so I requested a refund and the customer service was incredibly awful, I felt extremely belittled and I was laughed at and muttered about under the lady’s breath as she was walking away with the panini just because I didn’t want a burnt panini the first time, and couldn’t eat the tomato on it the second time (which I asked for no tomato on my initial order aswell) they refused to give me a refund until someone else intervened. Although their food is well, the customer service is not there. I doubt I will be back.

My father, who uses a cane, and I visit local cafés regularly for short social outings. We had previously enjoyed a visit to Sugar & Dice and decided to return because of its relaxing atmosphere, fresh coffee, and delicious pastries. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was far from the pleasant experience we remembered.
We arrived around 3:30–3:45 p.m. and were warmly greeted by your staff. My father chose a Birthday Cookie Bar and a Cranberry & Lemon Scone with coffee, and I ordered the same. Our total was just over $23 including tip, and we proceeded to the self-serve coffee station and then to a table by the window so my father could get settled comfortably. We were midway through our pastries and had just begun our coffee when a young staff member approached to tell us we needed to leave because the café was closing. It was 4:02 p.m.
We were surprised and disappointed. At no point during ordering were we informed that the café would be closing in just a few minutes, which would have allowed us to make an informed decision before purchasing. Given that my father is a senior and moves slowly with a cane, being asked to leave so abruptly felt inconsiderate and unnecessarily rushed. We were left unable to finish our drinks, and the experience was quite upsetting for him.
I asked to speak to a manager before leaving but was told none were present. I am therefore writing to you directly to express my concern and to request a formal apology for the situation. I also believe a small gesture of goodwill, such as a complimentary gift card, would go a long way to restoring our confidence in returning to Sugar & Dice and recommending it to others.
We truly enjoyed our first visit and hope this incident can be resolved in a manner that reflects the quality and customer care your café is known for.
RESPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT
We're sorry you weren't aware that we close at 4PM, our hours are posted on the door. No one intended to make you feel rushed, and we're sorry you felt that way. If you'd like, we can offer a refund for your order. We don't offer deliveries, but we do appreciate your feedback.
MY RESPONSE....
Thank you for your reply. I understand your hours may be posted, but in our case, that wasn’t easy to notice. My father uses a cane, and my attention was on helping him manage the large step into the building — not on searching for store hours. I did notice the sign about a ramp being available, which is where my focus naturally went.
What was most concerning, however, was the tone and manner in which we were asked to leave. The young staff member told us we had to leave immediately, even after I explained that we weren’t finished and hadn’t been informed of the closing time prior to ordering within minutes of closing. It was abrupt and unnecessary, especially considering my father’s mobility challenges and the fact that we were quiet, respectful customers.
I’m not seeking a refund — my goal is simply to share feedback to help improve future experiences. It might be helpful for staff to politely remind guests of closing time before the end of the day, particularly when customers are still seated, and to show a bit of patience toward those who may need extra time to finish a purchase and exit safely.
Conclusion.... while the food may be
3-4stars, the service from staff and subpar response from management leaves my family taking our business elsewhere.

Such a delightful café for a drink and sweet snack. A great selection of coffees and teas and home made delights.
Our food and drink order was $47, but we weren't allowed to order a soup and sit down and wait because it was 11:54 and not 12:00. Then, when we wanted to get soup the line was huge. #makekindnessloud

Sugar and Dice is hands-down one of my favorite places ever! Every time I’m back in my hometown, it’s a non-negotiable stop. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cool and fun. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in with a great coffee and lose track of time with a game or a book. Or just stop in and get something to go.
Speaking of coffee, their special roast is next-level. I always bring back bags of it with me—it’s that good. And don’t even get me started on the baked goods. Flaky, rich, perfectly sweet… they somehow manage to be indulgent without being over the top.
The staff are consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can feel the care in every detail, from the food to the vibe. Sugar and Dice isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s a ritual, a comfort, and a little slice of joy I look forward to every

Excellent little coffee, breakfast and snack shop. This place doesn’t need my review (it seemed very busy) but it does seem to deserve recognition for great service, great coffee and a very tasty breakfast sandwich! Thank you!!
