The appetizers were great and highlightof the meal. The fried cod cheeks had the perfect batter. Light and crisp. The smoked cod chowder was pretty good as it had a good smokey flavour. The ribeye steak was pretty good. The risotto was well done but the bourbon mushroom sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking. The truffle mushroom pasta was good but it was missing the truffle oil flavour. It's a good mushroom pasta, not a good truffle mushroom pasta. The mango pistachio combo wasn't a great pairing for me personally. The mango tropical flavour didn't go well with the pistachio.
The service was good and attentive. Entrées arrived shortly after we finished our appetizers.
The whole experience was amazing.
The waitress ashlee was so professional, kind, personable. The homemade garlic bread with the whipped butter was to die for! The bread was so soft and flavourful! It was homemade artisan cheese and herb bread. It was delicious. I had the special 7oz steak with truffle fries, veggies. My goodness everything had so much flavour! The vegetables were cooked to perfection, they weren’t soggy, they were perfect with a slight crunch, and the seasoning was delicious. The steak was grilled to perfection!
The desert that was my favourite was the hummingbird cheese cake, candied mandarin oranges. It was perfect mixture of tart and sweet. By far my favourite place to eat in cornerbrook.
The service was extraordinary. The atmosphere was cosy, intimate, rustic and private with so much character, the music was perfect and not overpowering. Everything was just amazing!
First time visiting the Wine Cellar. Cozy atmosphere, fantastic food, and awesome service! Will definitely be going back.
The service was good. The food was disappointing. The meal was rushed between courses which were much too quick to be ready for the next course. The salad I ordered was very bland (just greens, a couple of pieces of carrot and a miniscule amount of sugared almonds, but at the same time the dressing was too astringent…I could not finish it. And then the cod loins, my main, were tough, and not very tasteful. The polenta fries were not well prepared or seasoned. My husband had the smoked cod chowder which he really enjoyed.

Don’t expect to get any service at the restaurant if you’re a hotel guest on Sundays.
We got breakfast vouchers included with our stay, being vegans we didn’t expect to get a lot of options but we picked this local hotel instead of a large chain to support local and to experience the NL hospitality. Everything from check-in was fine and dandy, til we got to the dining room for breakfast. After waiting for a bit a server let us to our table, asked us what we would like to drink to start, we gladly order two fruit juices. A large crowd got to the restaurant likely for Sunday brunch, our juice didn’t come right away which we understood.
Another 10 minutes passed, no juice no water nor menu and no one spoke with us at all, when we flagged a server down he basically stated we didn’t need any menus because of our vouchers we didn’t want to argue anymore with him so we went on to order what we could get from the vouchers.
While waiting I went to the washroom, only to find the sink covered with spiders and the toilet paper couldn’t be pulled out ? because too big of a roll was installed.
After the mini struggle we finally got served our food, with no one checking to see if we got anything to drink til we finished . So we finished our dry toast and fruit cup without a sip of liquid with our meal.
I will go back to my self served breakfasts next time.

Total disappointment. 1) Shrimp pasta bathed in oil, with rolls from the grocery store. 2) Well-cooked salmon, with (fresh?) vegetables that are frozen and steamed, with (mashed?) potatoes that are as hard as a rock. And we had to pour our own wine.
I expect much better from a place that presents itself as upscale.
All in all, the employees, we imagine, did their best. But it all lacked a lot of love and knowledge of catering.

No vegetarian options. Was there last week and was very nice overall but one appetizer and 2 meals took over 3 hours. Reservation was 7 and we left after 10. I'd like to have known it would be a three hour experience instead of an hour as expected. Had the rib, it was beef, not pork, was good.

We had the Newfoundland fare - an order of beer battered cod, cod tongues and dessert tarts of cloud berries and partridge berries. All foods were good but the star was the tarts. With a beer, a Bloody Caesar and tip, the bills was over $70.00. A little pricy but we’re on holidays.
First let me say this place is a bit expensive, but worth every penny. Staff was great and food came out timely. It's hidden gem of a lost, casual but fine dinning experience. The food was very delicious and seasonal. My only issue was that for a place called the Wine Cellar, they did not have a very robust wine selection (i.e. no Shiraz or Baco Noir, both great steak wines). I would totally recommend.

I set a surprise supper reservation at the Wine cellar for my 3rd anniversary with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was cozy, and intimate. The decor a mix of modern and vintage. Maybe 14 tables in a circular layout that was very warm and inviting, comforting. Our server Shelley was so polite and personable, so very accommodating, attentive. Very professional and well versed in the menu items and drinks. Based on our preferences made a lovely wine recommendation we enjoyed for the evening (Red Sangria)We had the caesar salad app. Fresh, crisp romaine I believe on top a French baguette with a perfectly balanced dressing. Crunchy and juicy pork belly for the usual bacon topping and a very healthy topping of fresh parmesan. Our entree was the Chicken supreme with an onion soubise. Marinated in a garlic herb buttermilk, seared to perfect chicken thigh that was perfection in the center, just a touch of pink (which you can have without it bring undercooked if you didn't know) and very moist. Flavor throughout the entire thing, topped with a creamy onion sauce. Rested on a bed of creamy, cheesy risotto. I don't like rice, at all. It may have been my favorite part of the entire dish, that I'd go back just to enjoy again. Served with roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Everything was so fresh and balanced each other just so, especially our wine pairing. We finished our supper with one of each dessert all delightful in their own right... I cannot remember the name of our favorite, just that it wasn't the Ukrainian honey cake or dark chocolate cherry moose though still better than most desserts in town. The cook, Andrew O'quinn, is certainly doing something with food I have not experienced anything alike in corner brook before, I swear it was one of the best meals we've ever had and cannot wait to go back again soon.I highly reccomend sitting in for a night if you find yourself in Corner brook for the evening and wish to experience one of the finest dining experiences I know to exist on Newfoundlands west coast at the Glynmill inns Wine Cellar.

I would like to shout out the exceptional service provided by the waitstaff, who exhibited great attentiveness and amiability throughout the dining experience. Unfortunately the culinary experience presented was a significant disappointment. Considering the establishment's label as a "Steakhouse" and its associated price range, the lack of AAA, USDA Prime, or Canadian Angus beef is indeed disheartening. Furthermore, the lack of knowledge regarding the duration of dry aging when I inquired is a significant oversight, as it holds huge importance in delivering a proper steakhouse experience. Given these factors, it is difficult to justify the prices charged for the menu items on offer.Mindful of this after asking waitresses, I played the safe route for their burger, presuming that one cannot go wrong with a classic choice. Prior to placing the order, I took the initiative to inquire about the freshness of their Cod, with hopes of indulging in the renowned Newfoundland variety. However, it was disconcerting to learn that the Cod was frozen, and there was no information available regarding its capture date. To further assess the establishment's caliber, I ordered a side of Risotto, which typically serves as a clear indicator of a restaurant's culinary prowess. Unfortunately, what was presented was an overcooked rendition akin to commercially available Uncle Ben's Rice. The Caesar salad, priced at $16, proved to be one of the most disappointing elements of the meal. It featured predominantly pale lettuce leaves, scantily dressed with an overly tart lemon vinaigrette, and lacking the generous sprinkling of parmesan one would expect. Once my burger arrived, I was greeted with a disheartening sight—a sizable bun, admittedly of good quality, dwarfing a desiccated patty that had seemingly lost all moisture within a mere half-minute. Admittedly, the burger did exhibit a commendable fat-to-beef ratio, which could have been an appealing characteristic had the establishment prioritized quality control. While it is not my intention to disparage an establishment unjustly, I must express my disappointment as a visitor drawn into what appears to be a tourist-oriented establishment. As someone who travels extensively, and with family members who traverse the country in pursuit of memorable dining experiences, the exorbitant pricing coupled with the lackluster culinary execution is truly disheartening. It is my sincere hope that the management takes measures to address the issues plaguing their kitchen, as I believe such changes are necessary to restore the establishment's reputation. Until these concerns are adequately resolved, I would advise potential patrons to consider alternative dining options.-B Hansen

Great service (the only reason I'm giving it a second star). The food LOOKS spectacular... But it's like they forgot to season everything. We both ordered starters and mains. Of the four dishes, the duck confit was excellent and perfectly seasoned. The remaining starter (mushroom with crab and cheese), and the mains - seared tuna with rice noodles, and a crab linguine - it's like they were made by a rookie chef who forgot to add any seasoning whatsoever. When you're at an upscale restaurant, paying upscale prices - you don't expect to hear everyone around you asking the servers for salt. Yet that's exactly what was happening - including ourselves. The dishes simply had no flavor. It's not that I like overly salty foods either - the dishes could have benefited from citrus and other spices to brighten them up, and add some depth. It's no fun spending nearly $200 on a meal you can barely choke down.I expect a lot better from a place that bills itself as high-end.

This review is for the dining room off the lobby of the Glynmill Inn. We had breakfast included with our stay. Somewhat disappointed in the meals. Yogurt and fruit - yogurt was commercial grade and the fruit bowl consisted of pineapple, melon, grapes, melon, and apple. Blueberries are in season - why not use seasonal fresh fruit? Eggs and bacon were ok as were the potatoes and toast. the service did not live up to the White table cloth dining room. Coffee carafe and cups were placed on the table and server left of up to you to pour your own’. This also happened at dinner on the one night we stayed in - water and wine with appropriate glasses left on the table with no intent of being filled by staff. For the prices charged, I will have expected a bit more customer service. Dinner was ok -the temp of the food was cold when it was served to us- should have all been hot. Sauces came in plastic containers.
My husband and I went there and he ordered steak, let me tell you it was so ridiculous I was shocked. By the time he cut all the big chunks of fat off he had nothing left. I told the waitress and she took it to the back to show someone but came right back with it and basically said that's all they can do. My husband said it had to be the worst steak he ever seen and told the lady he would never come back. They never so much of offered anything else for him. I feel the service was bad. For our night out and payed $130.00 dollars I was not pleased.
