Just called this place to see if they were open today, the person that answered the phone was just outright rude & hung up on me. If that is the type of service they provide, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We have been here many times over the last 15 years. We purposely find a reason to stop in. Great food, atmosphere and service. We love the pancakes, French toast, breakfast deals, roast beef dinner and sandwiches. We get dessert to go because we are so full after but love the dessert items. Highly recommend.

Passing through Gambo and out for a walk we saw this cafe (end of walk). The owner was very nice to us and enlightened us with the history of the cafe. The cafe itself was very small but very clean and organized. The coffee was good and they even make homemade bagels there. There is also a great park next door for the kids. I will definitely be back next time through here.

The toutons with me toutons and beans came out charcoaled, when I mentioned it to the waiter he said "the blacker the better" the owner still charged me full price for the meal after I complained and asked "but how were the beans" as if a small bowl of beans for $16 would make up for the whole experience, well to be honest they tasted from a can of you wanna know. The owner called my GF lazy when is and her 3 kids strolled in, seemed annoyed we were all ordering food at 12:30 told us it would take 2 weeks. Clearly just wants to sell coffee to his buddies doesn't want actually customers. Well congratulations we won't be back to bother you ever again. Pathetic service all around.

Cashin's Chestnut Tree Cafe is definitely worth a visit if you are near Gambo. The proprietor was engaging with many stories. The food is tasty and the presentation lovely. I was forgetting to mention the atmosphere. It is a traditional Newfoundland store with groceries, crafts, books and artwork. It was a lovely experience. We will be back.

They also have a great lunch and dinner menu, with dishes that are just as delicious. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal.
