We visited Ground Murray’s Café in Portugal Cove about a month ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere—it’s such a nice and cozy spot. We ordered the strawberry flaky, cheesecake, the Ground omelette, and two dark roast coffees. The food was tasty and fresh, and the cheesecake was a real highlight!
The only thing we found a little disappointing was the coffee selection. They only serve brewed coffee (self-serve with milk, cream, or sugar), so I couldn’t get a latte, which I would have preferred. For the price, it would be nice to see more coffee options on the menu.
Overall, it’s a lovely place to stop by, with great food and a welcoming vibe.

The atmosphere is amazing—they have a new art collection every once in a while. This time they had hooked rugs! And there are plants everywhere and a greenhouse at back you can walk around in with wandering goats. The food was also amazing and they have a variety of sweets.

Such a hidden gem. Farm to table delicious food, great service and great shop with fresh vegetables. Definitely worth the trip from downtown.

Fresh ingredients. I love most of their bowls. Super light and fresh. A bit pricey for the portion.

We decided to try the pizza after hearing many positive reviews. While the pizza itself was quite good—particularly the Farm variety—it took nearly an hour to arrive after we ordered. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The staff didn’t come across as very welcoming, and there’s definitely room for improvement in customer service.
The atmosphere had potential but could have been more inviting with softer lighting. We sampled the Spice Bee, Farm, and Margherita pizzas, and the Farm was the standout.
That said, we’re unlikely to return, mainly due to the long wait time and underwhelming service experience.

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Did take quite a bit for our food to come out, though. Great simple coffee options.

I've been a loyal fan of The Grounds since they first opened in 2017, and they’ve never missed a beat! Every single meal — from their incredible breakfasts and fresh bowls to mouthwatering pizza and irresistible treats — is consistently delicious. It's easily the best spot in St. John's and the surrounding area, hands down! The atmosphere, the quality, the service — everything is top notch. I can't recommend it enough! ❤️

The Grounds Cafe is a great spot for brunch, lunch and desserts.
Sorry the coffee wasn’t very good. We tried medium and dark roast. The dark roast was a bit better but I would stick to the many delicious food items available instead.
Desserts are fantastic!

Great cafe for brunch! Tried the bagel sandwich and it was delicious! Coffee was great as well. Only thing they are missing is an espresso machine to have more variety of coffee beverages. Didn’t try any sweets but they looked amazing! Can’t wait to go back and try some more things on the menu
