Ches's Famous Fish & Chips Reviews
We are so glad that we spent 4 weeks with a wonderful, friendly, professional and cheerful team. Many people have been working there for many years and we understand why. After all, the owners treat their employees like family, care and always ask if everything is okay with them. Thank you guys so much for everything!!! See you soon!!!
Topsail Road Che’s is the worst location don’t go there better food else we’re like the Big on freshwater
TLDR: terrible food, terrible service, avoid at all costs. Much better fish and chips elsewhere in St. John’s.
Terrible experience. Was excited to try the food based on good reviews. Ordered takeout, made the 3 minute drive from our hotel and picked up our 2-piece fish and poutine. The lady at the counter was packaging it as I came in. She handed me the package and I carried it out to the car as it was given to me and drove back to the hotel. Ches's Famous Fish & Chips serves up delicious local Newfoundland cuisine, including their famous Fish and Chips with gravy and dressing. The restaurant offers excellent service, with attentive and friendly staff. The batter used for frying the fish and onion rings is light and not heavily battered, adding to the enjoyment. The fries are fresh and of good quality. Customers appreciate the cozy atmosphere, which features a wood fire on chilly days. The food is made to order and served hot, and many find the overall experience better than most across the island. The owners treat their employees like family, creating a cheerful and professional environment that customers notice and appreciate. While some find the fish a bit greasy at times, the quality of the scallops and other dishes makes it a popular spot for both dine-in and takeout.
