Myself and my husband booked a reservation for Magnum and Steins because we got gift certificates, and this would be our first time there. We were really excited because my husband heard great news about the food and I couldn't wait to try the nachos. We got there on time for our reservation and were seated right away. We were seated in the room to the left of the entrance, and it was just so dark. The table next to us used the flashlight on their phone to see the menu, and so did we. After 25 minutes of sitting there in the dark, no one had come to our table to even take our drink order. I don't know how busy it was on the rest of the restaurant, but 25 minutes was unacceptable. After 25 minutes of nothing, we got up and left. I guess they didn't realize we were waiting because one of the waitresses said to us as we were leaving “Have a great night!” I should also note, the same table that used their flashlight to read the menu, also used their flashlight to see their appetizer to be able to eat it. We will not be back.

The oysters were amazing. My steak was over cooked. My friend received a tenderloin instead of strip loin. Need more than one variety of Pinot Grigio-I usually Cooke with Barefoot.

We've heard they are underrated so we were looking forward to our meal. Broad menu options and a decent curated wine menu. We were a bit puzzled by how long it took for anything to make it to our table. Restaurant was not overly crowded. Twenty minutes to get beers and that seemed to be the plan. Perhaps the staff is told to take their time? We felt it a bit stilted. Food was creative and well presented. Medium rare was honestly very rare. Shanks were perfect. Scallops were raw inside and perfectly seared. Next time perhaps we stick to the bar menu.

Loved it and will definitely go again. There were lots of options to choose from as they offered a dining menu as well as the lounge menu. They have a large drink menu and I think it's great to support local.

I hadn't been to this restaurant in about 10 years, but had gift cards so decided to try it out again. When we arrived my wife and I were seated at a table to the right of the entrance very close to the door which certainly must have been the worst seat in the restaurant which may have detracted from the ambiance. I heard later that the table next to us was initially put there but they asked to move. Our waitress was kind and professional and provided good service. My wife and I both ordered the striploin and frites. After we ordered our waitress came and told us this is a "Californian striploin" and wanted to make sure we were fine with this. I wasn't sure exactly what this meant, but having had striploin many times I figured it was fine. When it arrived it was 2 inches thick and looked much more reminiscent of a filled, but was much tougher. It wasn't bad, but certainly was not what I expect and the tenderness wasn't great. Unfortunately for the price (49+tax) there are much better options in the city (Merchant Tavern comes to mind). We also found the atmosphere not to be our preference, but this is certainly a personal preference and I believe was influenced by the table we received. Not sure we'll visit again given the plethora of great dining options downtown. Overall an okay meal.

From the duck nachos to the sirloin to the amazing brownie dessert everything was fabulous. We even met a couple celebrating their anniversary and had a wonderful chat. We were seated pretty close to the door being a cold night. It was pretty chilly inside, but other than that everything was fabulous.

When I booked online I reserved “upstairs dining room”, which I guess wasn’t available because we were sat downstairs. Bread and butter were both served fridge cold, so very difficult to spread. We had about 2 bites each of the phyllo brie app and sent it back (the sauce was kind of bitter and weird), and the waiter left it on our bill which I found strange. Mains were ok, I had a seafood fettuccine which was good but the portion was small and it was light on the seafood. My partner had the chicken which she found chewy and the veg to be under seasoned, but she did like the sauce. Tiramisu was pretty good. Drinks were good but bar service was a little slow. Our waiter was brutal. Very inefficient and lack of attention. Not served water until we asked for it when our mains came and were never offered a refill, he knew next to nothing about the menu or drinks (could not answer any questions), and seemed irritated when my parter asked for a knife to cut her chicken. The restaurant itself was cold and the dreary piano music didn’t help the atmosphere much. I paid our $200 bill and we then went up the road to No. 4 where we had another round of food and drinks and left much happier. I’d say skip this one.

Food was great. I bought gift cards from Costco, I couldn't understand why they didn't give change on the gift cards. it shouldn't matter were i bought them. This should not be there policy.

Our waitress was very friendly and kind, however, service was very slow. We waited 20 minutes for water and almost an hour for our entrées. My husband enjoyed the steak, however, the salmon dish was too salty to eat. The waitress offered an alternative, but I declined, due to the wait times. Small details such as placemats with residue/dirt do not go in unnoticed either.

The food is delicious and the service was superb. We couldn’t have asked for a better server! The duck nachos and bread served with pumpkin pie butter were especially good!

Perfectly chilled wine, impeccable wait staff( especially John), steaks cooked to individual tastes with appetizers and desserts that complemented the mains. A very enjoyable evening!

The food is always good at Magnum and Stein. Lots of selections for every taste. Good spot to go for fish! Their fresh pasta was delicious and the server went above to get another wine choice for us.
