Girlfriend and I went to trapper john’s to get screeched in, trapper bobby told non stop jokes and threw a couple insults our way but it’s all part of the experience. It was very authentic and it was clear the bartender has lived a full life, as he told us his life story after getting screeched in. He bought us shots on the house before we left, very nice guy, just trying to make everybody smile in his own way. If you get offended easily, don’t go here. If you can take a bit of heat and want to smile and laugh, spend some time here.

Getting "Screehed in" was not as advertised to me. Certificate is all about Trapper Johns, not being an honorary Newfoundlander. Trapper Bobby was rude and crude, and when told his remarks were offensive, he doubled down. This was BEFORE the screeching in, which was expected to be ribald, so you can imagine how bad it was.

We read Lexington Knight’s review about the fight and decided this place was where we wanted to be screeched in. Definitely the real deal. Colin the bartender was super friendly. A very authentic Newfoundland dive bar. Lots of interesting artifacts from Newfoundland history. Must see!

Aug 6 2024 - AVOID!!! Owner and bartender actually fought? What the hell. Got screeched in, the bartender and owner got in an actual fight during screeching in. Lots of yelling and shirt pulling. Bartender walked out. Owner did nothing, didn’t see if people were good, apologize etc. Unbelievable honestly. Left afterwards to another sane bar who said yes Trapper Johns has gone down hill. Trash place trash people avoid. Videos attached. Basically ruined the whole “screeching in” thing. F this place.

My group brought me here to get Screeched. The ritual and bartender leading us was funny and entertaining. The place has a lot of historical displays and smells. I would recommend for someone looking for a true Newfoundland experience.

I was super stoked I beat the bartender really bad in foosball…… okay he might of won and I didn’t score one goal ? still a great friendly experience. Hopefully I’ll come back and screeched in!
