Food was good, but service was horrible. We’ve been waited almost 20min for the bills but the server(red hair lady) was keep saying “wait” and we had to go up to the front later. The another blonde lady took almost 5 min even though they saw us, let us stood by there. It wasn’t busy because we waited until many people leave. Literally 2 table was there. I will never be there again even though food was great

Went to Zachary’s for breakfast recently and was really underwhelmed. The seating was rather quick, but there wasn’t much positive afterwards. Our server was slow to come by to take our order (approximately 15 minutes after we were initially seated). Our server returned promptly with our drinks and cutlery, but it was another 30 minutes before our food arrived. For what it’s worth we ordered: the eggs benedict, the toutons, the baked beans with bacon a glass of orange juice and two waters. While the food was okay, there were definitely some lacklustre parts. Even though it is advertised as having a cheese sauce (so there was nothing misleading), egg’s benedict without hollandaise sauce is definitely a different choice, especially when the cheese sauce wasn’t great. While it wasn’t stated either way, serving orange juice that is obviously from concentrate instead of using non-concentrated juice is pretty low bar to not reach. The molasses for the toutons seemed to have been watered down, and it was questionable when the molasses jug was last cleaned. Finally, while we aren’t sure, the bacon tasted just like the ready crisp packs you microwave from the store, and the beans were awfully similar to the molasses beans you’d find in a can. However, that might’ve just been our palettes. Our server did come to check on us shortly after we received our food which is always appreciated but she seemed to have vanished afterwards. After sitting for 20 minutes after finishing our meal, waiting for our plates to be cleared (we were hoping to get a box for one of the leftover toutons) we figured we must’ve misunderstood and went to the front to pay. Finally, we waited a few minutes for our server to come out of the back of the restaurant, paid for our meal and left. We decided against the box, it wasn’t offered and we didn’t ask. We didn’t want to end up, presumably, waiting even longer just to box up a touton.

This was our first time visiting Zachary’s restaurant in downtown St. John’s. The service was great, although it was a very busy Saturday morning. The fish and brews was excellent.. such a Newfoundland delicacy. The eggs Benedict was good, but my eggs were slightly over cooked for my liking. I would definitely visit again :)

Nice place, simple food, nice servers, but the service is extremely slow! Took 20 minutes just to get menu and waters.

The staff was obviously overwhelmed trying to serve the patrons breakfast. Four simple breakfasts took 1 hour and 15 minutes to be delivered. Food was good when it arrived.

Food is ok, nothing extra. Pretty much the same thing you can do yourself at home except that Orange Juice is the one made from concentrate. Price was very reasonable, if you want something easy without any flashy stuff, go there.Good point, it opens at 7h00!
