El Modelo is the bomb! Breakfast burrito, add bacon and carne adovada w/ chorizo sauce is one of the best breakfast burritos around. You can never go wrong with a stuffed sopa as well. Service is always good despite the long lines, and I love eating at the outside tables. A definite New Mexico classic.

Dec-2025Dec-2025. El Modelo Mexican Foods- I purchased $150.00 worth of tamales. Red chili pork tamales and green chili chicken tamales. Both were very different than I expected and remember. They were smaller in size and with less corn flour masa. Both kinds of tamales had no real flavor to speak of. We made our own red chili sauce to booster the flavor. The meat stuffing in both were so different than in the past buys. I’m not going back. At $4.05 plus tax for each tamale and we didn’t even like or enjoyed them, why go back. Something is definitely wrong with these tamales. New owners, new management, new recipes or just an odd batch. Something off. Well, I’m done with El Modelo tamales. At least I have a year to find another Christmas tamale place!
Old review— Tamales are large and so good, but pricely. 12 pork tamales almost $50. No real dinning area, but really just a take-out place. It's alway busy so be prepared to wait. I love their green chile and chicken tamales. Service staff is are very helpful.
