Lovely space to hang out with friends! A staple in nobhill! Spreading some love after this Lauren Bennett review. Apparently she had a terrible time in nobhill and hit many of us with a one star yall don’t deserve that. You are amazing and I always have a great time here.

I visit board game cafés often when I travel, so I was excited to check out Empire since it’s so close to campus and highly rated. The setup and game selection are great, and the staff were genuinely friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the pricing really took away from the experience.
Most board game cafés I’ve been to charge a flat hourly rate, but Empire charges per person per hour, which makes a simple visit much more expensive — especially for groups or students. The food was fine but limited and also on the pricey side. I completely understand supporting staff and maintaining a quality library, but overall, the value just didn’t feel worth the cost.
It’s a nice space and concept, but I left feeling more frustrated than relaxed.

Great place to hang with some friends, play some board games, and get a bite to eat. I highly recommend coming here.

Awesome place. Went with C&! group tonight, the owner and staff are all extremely nice, they have plenty of games. We will definitely return next time when we are in town. Food was surprisingly decent too!

AMAZING PLACE! Highly suggest going here for parties, hanging out with friends, or just to enjoy family time and take a break from a long road trip. They have over 1000 different board games to play, and you only have to pay a small fee ($7 if I remember?) for drinks and snacks during your playing. They also have a cafe with treats.

This shop is incredibly unique and fun. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Came here on their Wednesday evening game event. Awesome event to meet new people and friends. The staff is very knowledgeable with their game selections. The drinks are pretty good too. I got a hibiscus lemonade and played a couple of games with new friends.
Highly recommend going to this event to meet new people and play new games.

5 stars for the boardgame aspect. Honestly wish them the best. Be careful what you get from the kitchen. I've had some pretty questionable results.

Such a nice place, I actually came by myself just to read and write, there’s something inspiring about the atmosphere! But I could see a lot of people having fun with board games.

Fun board game spot to rent a table (pay by the hour) and check out their big variety of board games. Also a good selection of items for sale. I definitely recommend their specialty coffees while you're hanging out.

Love the amount of games at your fingertips! So many options! Clean and well lit and a gaming atmosphere for sure.

Great place to host a small event/game night with friends! Having someone there to go over the more complex games was great.
