Great overall experience! Highly recommend
Such a nice place, I actually came by myself just to read and write, there’s something inspiring about the atmosphere! But I could see a lot of people having fun with board games.
Fun board game spot to rent a table (pay by the hour) and check out their big variety of board games. Also a good selection of items for sale. I definitely recommend their specialty coffees while you're hanging out.
Love the amount of games at your fingertips! So many options! Clean and well lit and a gaming atmosphere for sure.
Great place to host a small event/game night with friends! Having someone there to go over the more complex games was great.
I've enjoyed other game stores and libraries around town. Unfortunately while Empire is the closest to campus (primary demographic being college students) its also the most expensive that I've been to. Many other stores allow you to pay a flat rate per hour, but empire is per person per hour. Their collection is pretty great, amd the amount of tables allows there to be space for many groups at a time. Their food is good too, however still expensive (on top of the price you're paying to play). The staff are all knowledgeable and kind, I only wish i could enjoy going there without feeling sick when I have to check out.
Came for the anniversary today. Wide selection of playable games for every sort of player imaginable, with particularly well-worn ones showing how many others enjoyed them before us. I had fun with the games I played, even though I walked out empty-handed. Eat and drink before arriving, though. I was far from satisfied with my café orders.
The experience was bad I was there for the Azul tournament and the had 4 games set up three out of the four were normal size games but the one I got that I didn’t want to be at was a travel size game was uncomfortable. It didn’t score the same way and it was very tiny and hard to work with. I felt it was pretty ghetto.
Saturday was my first time being here! It is so fun!! They have a great selection of board games to play and will teach you how to play them if you need that. The food there is so tasty! When you go, they will open a tab for you and charge $4 per person per hour and of course any food you order as well! It's easy to pay just for yourself though if your group wants to do that. Overall this is such an enjoyable place and a cool concept!
Awesome place great staff to explain board games

Great place for a date night!!!100's of board games with experts help explaining any of the games. Walking you through simple or complex ones.A delicious little cafe with coffee, tasty treats, or a variety of drinks!A little intimidating at first with the overwhelming selections, but the board wizards always come to the rescue!
We had a great time. Staff was eager to help explain rules and objectives. Great hot chocolate and coffee. They also offer snacks. Wonderful selection of games to play and purchase.
Love this place. Fabulous to try new games and enjoy times with friends. We keep going back for new games and good times!!
Very nice tables, staff is very helpful with game summary for a more informative selection process of a game to play. Cafe drinks and snacks on the pricey side, 5$ for average for most beverages/snacks, but not necessary for a good time.
Every time I come to work in Albuquerque for months at a time I always enjoy visiting Empire. My daughter and I get some quality time when she and my wife visit. Easy to pull a game and start playing. It doesn’t hurt that their chai teas are rock solid.
