We drove up thinking it was opened. Went inside nobody was there. A gentleman came out of the kitchen and told us that they were closed, but instead of sending us on our way, he opened the kitchen and made us some food. It was some really good food and very nice service.

Admittedly, we caught these fellas a little off-guard when I called at an unusually bustling Sunday off-brunch-rush-hour. It was Father's Day, and every place in the area had lines out the door at 11:00. (I've noticed there's generally a sweet spot between 11 and 11:30, after brunch proper, but before lunch proper, when the dining hordes want a bit. Not the case this day!) Passing by this place that had caught my eye a couple times in the past, the husband prompted me to give 'em a call to see if they were open. I humored him, even though none of the window signs were lit, cuz hey, it was Father's Day. "Come on in!" The voice on the other end said enthusiastically. It was completely empty, but for the two gentlemen who greeted us, who were just turning on their signs. They were very amicable, if a little unprepared for us and the four other parties that followed us in quick succession. (He told us we were good luck.) Further, they were very eager to make us whatever the heck we wanted. "Does your gravy have sausage, or is it cream gravy?" I asked. "What do you want?" Was his answer. Yeah, it was like that. Pretty epic. The menu has 15 or so diner-staples for breakfast and as many for lunch (most about $2.00 more than they ought to be, frankly). Husband devoured his enchiladas with gusto. ("So creamy!") The french toast was tasty. The biscuits and gravy were good, though a bit over-salted and under-whisked. The coffee was quite good for diner joe! They're thinking of opening at 6am, since Mannies shut down. I think it's a brilliant idea, but they ought to come up with a couple unique signature items if they want to be the new Mannie in town (not to mention reconsider their pricing a bit). As of now, they qualify three stars on grub, and five on accommodating service, to level out at four. I wish them best of luck!

had the nicest lunch at Hiway House. First of all, I cannot neglect to mention how uncommonly clean the ladies' room was. I never see bathrooms that clean any more. They had some nice things on the menu. They were simple things like cheese fries, fish and chips, eggs, french fries. I ordered a BLT. It was a double decker. The bacon was done perfectly, just like I asked, the lettuce was fresh and it was just wonderful. It came with fries and I ordered a side of cheese. That was delicious too. I sat on the patio which was lovely. There was a nice breeze and it was perfect for watching everything go by on central. My server was also a charming and attentive young man. Hiway house was just PERFECT!! It was simple, easy, delicious and fun.

On a trip to ABQ we stopped here and it I highly recommend it. My brother got the Hiway House Burger and I got the wings. The mozzarella sticks were also amazing in a kicked back retro style restaurant. Definitely worth checking out. Great food and great service.

This place has awesome burgers! I had the mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. It was packed with good flavor and the lettuce and tomato were fresh. Because of Covid we could not dine inside but it was a beautiful day and we dined on the patio. I would definitely eat here again.

TURKEY LEGS ARE HERE!!! Ribs are tasty too. Biscuits and gravy remind me of breakfast back in the south. Staff was friendly, building was clean, and not a long wait. Would recommend to friends & fam.
