What the restaurant didn't have in quality, it made up with quantity and an amazing price. A huge enchilada plate -- stacked, New Mexico style -- was $9.29. A huge glass of iced tea added $3.00 (it was tasteless; I should have had water). The enchilada didn't have much flavor -- though the chicken tasted fresh -- and I could barely taste the chile. But the meal also came with a sopaipilla... which used to be a part of every meal at a new Mexican restaurant, but now most places charge a few dollars for one. I came in at 11:00 a.m. on a Wednesday, and the place was packed with people who looked like locals. If you're driving on to Farmington, you'll find a lot more choices there. Otherwise, is fulfill your stomach and go easy on your wallet!

Cool kitschy place with a great Coca-Cola and NM rodeo collection. It was fun to look around at everything. The menu was primarily NM style Mexican food. I was excited to see meals from my childhood on the menu. The presentation was good. I tried the stuffed sopapilla, hubby had the combo plate, and our kiddo had the cheese crisp. The chili relleno and cheese enchiladas were good. The cheese crisp was bigger than my child’s head! The ground beef was in serious of seasoning in both the enchilada and sopapilla. Drinks were large and service was good. Overall price was not bad.

Local clients is a good sign for me. ? Generic American menu plus Mexican menu. Very friendly waitress. Ample portions. Reasonable prices.

Whooo-boy! We lost the draw , got a first day waitress ..... Got a chili burger (which means an entirely different thing in New Mexico) Waitress had to come back and ask us what we wanted at least twice , but I think three times .. Took FOREVER! Most people came and went while we were still waiting ... She should maybe look into a career in truck driving ..

After reading so many good reviews about this particular restaurant - especially knowing from experience that small-town diners can serve the best food - we were dramatically disappointed with the Roadside Restaurant. First of all, the restaurant was extremely short staffed with what appeared to be only one wait staff member, cashier, and order taker. We ordered food to go, and it took almost 45 minutes to receive our order. Still, the place was packed, with folks waiting to be seated. The food was the final disappointment. Our New Mexican entrees were so bland, lacking seasoning or real flavor. The green chili was not spicy at all. Bottom Line: We would not eat at the Roadside Restaurant in the future.

My wife had the taco special, I had a Navajo taco. Huge portions! You can taste the home made flavor and texture, we shared often because it was so good. Taco shells did not break but almost melted in my mouth, not sure I've ever had anything so good! Green chile sauce on Navajo taco was wonderful! HUGE soft drinks kept getting refilled free! and included fresh sopapillas with honey for desert! This PHENOMENAL meal cost 1/2 our swanky Durango meal the day before and the same as Dennys senior menu later in Gallup. Food on par with greatest Mexican restaurants all over the Southwest!

We stopped to grab a local bite while exploring the area. This has the feel of a small town diner, but the food rivals some big city favorites. I had the daily special, two tacos. THE TACO SHELLS WERE FRESHLY MADE ON SITE. My husband ordered the Navajo Taco and it had to be the best he had ever eaten. Even the green sauce was homemade. For dessert, we were given two sopapillas. They were fresh and delicious. When the bill came, we were happily surprised that it was less than we would have spent at a fast food joint. You won't be disappointed if you eat here!

Located next door to our hotel, it was worth the experience. Good food and service. The dinner was typical family restaurant, just what we were looking for. Spacious, the tables were not crowded. Lots of Coke memorabilia

Excellent service, good food and 50’ s decor. They serve just about any type of food you prefer and can’t beat the prices.

Ugh the so called "fajita" chicken is just warmed up canned chicken. And not even good canned chicken it tasted like tuna. Just so gross. I took one bite and then pushed my plate aside. My daughter’s fries were still half frozen. I really wasn’t expecting much from this place but seriously this was the worst. My husband who can eat and tolerate anything liked the ground beef tacos. Avoid!

We didn't feel like driving to get dinner so we walked next door to the restaurant from the hotel. Got to sit where we wanted and then we waited for service. There were two servers but ours seemed to spend a lot of time at a station instead of checking on the tables. Finally got food but it wasn't hot. Asked for some condiments and water and it took forever to get them to the table. The only way this got a three was because the food was good and there was no 2 1/2 to put on the rating.

If you want to find good old New Mexican cuisine, give this place a try! We were seated promptly. This was in the COVID season where there was only outdoor dining allowed and they had made a makeshift patio on the south side of their building. It was shaded, but not protected from the wind. Tables were spaced for physical distancing. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Our food arrived quickly and was served hot. My husband and I shared the Navajo taco which was the perfect size for the two of us. Good hearty fare and sopapillas to boot.

We were in town for the night. Hotel staff recommended Roadside Rest. Since it was a short walk we decided to order take out. The food was heavy and gooey. I didn't feel there was anything clean about the food at all. My husband and I both had Mexican food. I realize take out is never going to be as good as eating in. Also realize Mexican food isn't really a clean food. That is the reason I gave it an average instead of lower. We ate the food within 20 minutes of walking out of the restaurant. The rice was hard as a rock. All the other food on the combination plate was either heavily breaded or very gooey sauce. It just wasn't very appealing to the eyes or the palate.

I love coming in here with my husband. Everything is fine like there food is yummy. But they got one waitress she is nice but flirts with your man. They hired a short skinny spanish girl the other day & when we come in she can't keep her eyes off my man. So girls if u got good looking husband's watch out????
