This place is the definition of hidden gem! It’s really easy to just drive past, but do not do it! It is a 3rd generation family owned restaurant, making recipes handed down for over 70 years, and full of local arts and crafts for sale. My wife and I split the combo platter, which came with a taco, a chile relleno, two enchiladas, and rice and beans, and we had chips and salsa to munch on while we were waiting for our food. The first time I stopped by, was on a long distance bike tour. The owner was kind enough to offer a little cabin for the night. A few years later, in a vehicle this time, I stopped again. Once again, the host/cook/owner was kind and courteous. Since I was camping in the area, I made El Paisano a breakfast or lunch stop. If only I lived closer!!
