Checked out the Boxcar Cafe as it was close to our Airbnb, we all loved it! The service was wonderful. We had the fish and chips, the build your own burger, chicken fried steak and lastly the chicken tenders and fries. Everything was delicious and everyone was very satisfied!
I ordered fish and chips. This is in Chama NM, so, of course, the fish is frozen. But it was good quality and hand battered. The fries were wonderful, hand cut from fresh potatoes and the tartar sauce was home made. It should have been delicious. But, the batter was overly salty ( usually I Love salty) but this was too much. The fish hadn't been seasoned at all but the batter was over salted. The tartar sauce portion was ample. My wife and I came in from Heron Lake this morning, Sunday October 1st. We go to the lake every year for our anniversary. We decided we wanted to try Chama to find breakfast and coffee today. We were extremely happy to find this place. The all you can eat custom omelette/buffet style setting is genius. We loved the atmosphere the food and service. A non pork meat option for breakfast would be great but not a deal breaker. We will definitely be coming back anytime we're around...
