El Potrero Trading Post was very interesting to visit. If you're looking for religious items, Rosaries, retablos, button, crosses, amulets you came to the right place. They also have red and green chile powder. and some exceptional Chipotle powder.

After visiting the church, this is an alternative to the official store. They have small vials of the dirt already packed up, as well as numerous other little religious gifts and jewelry. Reasonably priced and they have more than one register running, so you'll get in and out quickly as opposed to the official store where you will stand in line for 40 minutes to check out. They also have some cold drinks available for purchase and chili powders.

Looking for souvenirs that I could acquire while at the Sanctuary of Nino De Atocho or shrine of Chimayo . I came across this store . I was very pleased with the beautiful images of Our Lady of Guadalupe , handmade rosaries, statues of the Nino de Atocho ( I found the perfect bulto there) the store was packed with everyone looking for the perfect souvenir from this lovely shrine. I myself was looking for several gifts and an image of the Nino de Atocho. The owner Raymond was knowledgeable and very helpful to everyone. A visit to this amazing store filled with chilli peppers & powders is a must .

Love this place! Spices are amazing, affordable and the people working there are super friendly and helpful. Also love that you can order more and they will ship it to you! (I live in Wisconsin and need to have these spices!)

I loved the spice options, and the person who helped us was incredibly knowledgeable about the differences between them and uses for all of them.

This iconic store has been family-owned for generations and sells the best chili powders, holy dirt vials from Santurario de Chimayo, rosaries, shirts, and jewelry. I drive there every time I’m in Santa Fe. I see now the building is for sale, and the future of this store is uncertain. Their chili powder is shipped all over the world, and the family is the most kind and helpful people you could meet. Please save this precious store that complements the neighboring chapel and the village.

While I didn't actually buy anything, I have to leave a review for El Potrero Trading Post because the woman working was so, so knowledgeable and friendly and definitely worthy of five stars! She was able to share so much information about the nearby church as well as some restaurant recommendations in Chimayo, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and even Taos. I wasn't the one inquiring about restaurant recommendations (the woman ahead of us was) but I did enjoy overhearing the suggestions. As others mentioned, El Potrero is located very, very close to El Santuario de Chimayo and offers a variety of food and trinkets including "perhaps the finest selection of chili powder!" I loved the smell of the powder while browsing. Definitely stop in here if you're visiting the church and they're open!
