We were passing through the sleepy town of Cimarron on a Monday late October '24 when we made a stop here for some breakfast and ordered breakfast burritos w/ no meat (vegetarian). I walked around the establishment looking at the decor absorbing it all in and getting some photos. The place was relatively quiet with a few customers, the young lady and woman employees up front were alright, and treated us fair. I'm giving em 5 stars but the breakfast burritos should be labeled if one is different from the other, I ate half of the other person's burrito that I was with before switching burritos. They've got great salsa that was kindly given to me but had no hot sauces. I would take off a star for this but the burritos really were great! The atmosphere and service were great, I even bought a hat. They had interesting art and it was right by a very old Hotel and Historic jailhouse. Then after, we were back on the HWY.
Vegetarian options: Chose to opt out of bacon/chorizo.

A trip to the past. The coffee was 2024 and the food was luxurious. We also liked the decor as we own several wood burning heaters.

We went in about 10:30 and asked if we could order off the lunch menu. The very friendly lady checked with the cook and said yes. When our food was served, they included a little extra for my one year old grandson, in his momma’s plate. Everything was so fresh and good. I already highly recommended The Merc, but taking my daughter, who hadn’t been there for a meal, made me so happy to have such a nice experience. (We had a Cobb salad and a hamburger.) Great job, Cimarron Merc!
Santa Fe burrito was delicious! Coffee was just what I needed.

Had breakfast burritos and lattes which were all very delicious. Very clean and cute inside, with plenty of products to peruse and purchase while you wait. They also sell ice cream and it looked yummy! Bathrooms were very clean and nicely decorated. Service was very friendly and you can tell locals love to meet here! My only complaint is I wish they were open more days/hours because we only got to try them the day we were leaving.

Breakfast burrito was great. Oatmeal was good (a little undercooked for my taste but still good). Iced Mocha and Americano coffee were excellent. Great, friendly service!

Made a stop at the mercantile in the small town of Cimarron en route to Denver. It was such a cute place with a direct menu that made deciding what to eat so much easier. It was brunch time, so I had the panini. You build it the way you want it. I selected sourdough with roast beef, tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and a side of the green chile aioli. It was absolutely delicious and came out in about 10 minutes. The only thing about the sandwiches is that you have to dress it with your selected vegetables that added a minor additional step. The restaurant provides you with a pack of mayo and mustard for condiments. The mercantile also carries pastries, various goods from local businesses, books, magazines, and a selection of meat. The bathroom was impeccably clean.Last but not least, the service was wonderful! Both our server and the cook were engaged and kind, providing us tidbits of information about the local goods, the history of the building (it was built in the late 1800s ? and a former Wells Fargo), and the neighboring hotel that served as overnight stays for the likes of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. The Cimarron Mercantile is well worth the detour for where the Rockies meet the Plains.
Vegetarian options: Several menu items that are vegetarian or can be made meatless. The menu is limited in general, but there is still a good amount of options for vegetarians.
Parking: It’s not an actual lot, but parking spaces in front of the building.

Not bad, I would definitely recommend the breakfast panini if you’re here for breakfast since they do not offer any “big breakfast” options but I would recommend this establishment if you’re looking for a quick breakfast meal.

Nice to see another food option in Cimarron. Good lunch options with sandwiches and salads. And ice cream or shakes for dessert. Reasonably priced with quick service. Plenty of seating and next door to St. James Hotel. Not open for dinner.
