Bartender denied my valid ID because it was vertical (not expired, current and valid). It happens which is why I carry my passport as a second form. Bartender wouldnt even let me pull it out and told me and my fiancé we couldn’t be in the bar area and that because he “saw my ID was vertical he couldn’t even look at any form of ID.” As a bartender myself, I’m not sure what your ID policy is, but you should figure it out. Checked into the hotel with my ID and went to another bar, no problem. If you look young good luck with this lovely establishment.

Great service, great food. What gives with the 2 drink limit? I can promise you John Wayne and his horse wouldn’t have dr here with a 2 drink maximum. Unfortunate.

The last time I ate here before 2 days ago, was about 2 years ago, it's still really good. I had two of their half pound hamburgers. And some kind of fried mushrooms.

Bartenders are racist against whites or travelers. Worst service ever experienced and we were only allowed 2 drinks even though we drove all day and were staying at the hotel. Avoid as it feels like a bad situation is about to happen. Food was OK but not for the price.

You can listen to any song you want from Jukebox for only 50 cents, it's amazing! The menu is very rich. They provide friendly, quality service. I was proud to be here! I hope we come back here again and eat great food.

The lounge is the worst part of the Famous El Rancho Hotel. We love staying at the hotel, the restaurant is great but the bartender (bald headed guy with glasses) needs customer service training. I get it's a local neighborhood bar but to be blatantly rude and disrespectful to out of towners is uncalled for. Or could it be because we were of color? And mind you, this IS my hometown but I have lived away for 30 years. El Rancho is usually where we stay and to have a lounge there is one of the perks of it. Or supposed to be. We came in about 11 pm to have a drink or two. We were a party of 6. The security checked our IDs and told us that the bartender would probably check it again. We sat down at a table and realized that we would have to walk up to the bar to order a drink. We all had to stand around the bar waiting for the bartender. Then when he got to us, he very rudely asked for our IDs and as were handing it to him, he's legit snatching it rudely out of each of our hands. Then he impatiently rushes us by saying, "Come on guys, what do you want?" Like what?? We had one drink and left. It's sad that this establishment treats people the way they do. It's a shame that this is one of a very few places you can go for an adult beverage and know it could be a great place but the service by this bartender ain't it.
Customer service goes a long way, the bartender should try it sometimes.

Barman obviously didn't like out of towners, strange as it's on Route 66
.. Even thought he was tipped generously he totally ignored me and my wife. He was more interested in the locals.

Tacos was good, tasted awesome and was quick. Got the order within 10 minutes or less. small bar are, though had to sit at a table since there was no bar space. Wish the server was a bit more happier though was kinda like just doing her job but was ok at leasted checked on me about the food.

The food here was good but unfortunately it took an hour to be served after we ordered it. Only 1 waitress/bartender working, she did a great job but another staff member was definitely needed.

Waited at hostess table 15 minutes, 3 waitresses walked by, absolutely no staff acknowledged our presence. No one made eye contact, no one said a word to us so we turned around, and spent our money elsewhere.

Cozy spot to get a drink. Prefer this place for their bourbon mixed drinks and tequila based margaritas.

Food is actually not bad at all but you can definitely get way better in Gallup. The thing you cannot get is the history and atmosphere. Another thing your hard pressed to get in Gallup sadly is good service. They have both of these in spades. When I have visitors coming I always take them here for dinner or sometimes just a few drinks. Felix took over the bar several years ago then I moved out of town. I just started working back in Gallup and bringing folks back into town and it was pretty incredible to see what he's done and how his influence has changed the place. I have to say, just the overall atmosphere seems much cleaner and overall inviting. I would, (and now do) take a CEO or group of executives to hang out in the evening. Before he took over I personally enjoyed going but I wouldn't have taken those types of folks as it was admittedly a little rough. Great job all around and as it has always been, a wonderful place with an amazing story.

Beautiful and quaint hotel on Route 66. Wonderful staff too. We loved the historic value of the building and grounds. We will definitely stay again. We had breakfast at Garcia’s on Route 66… also a wonderful place, family owned and the best chilaquiles I have ever had.
