My family’s first visit to Spanish Kitchen was in 1957 at their downtown Main Street location. I have frequented their 3 other locations throughout the next 60+ years and never been disappointed. One of my favorite New Mexican restaurants in Las Cruces. The red enchilada sauce is perfect every time.

My father lives in an Assisted Living Center, once a month they as a group try to go out to local restaurants. This month they went to Spanish Kitchen. I was not able to join them, but the Aide and bus driver who takes them were there. She told me (and my father confirmed it) they had to wait over 15+ minutes just to get some chips and salsa. The Aide told the waitress up front it would be individual tickets, but apparently the waitress was not paying attention. When she started taking the orders, the Aide again stated they were individual tickets, the waitress was rude and said she should have told her up front. Then my father always orders AL CARTE.... 1 chicken enchilada, green sauce + onion, no cheese and 1 Chili Relleno, green sauce, No extra cheese and 1 soda. They charged him $11+ for JUST the enchilada, $3+ for the Relleno and $2.95 for his soda, his bill was $17+ dollars.... ARE you KIDDING me.... the Aide said she disputed his bill, but was told if you order AL CARTE it is more expensive.... REALLY the whole enchilada PLATE is not even $11.00. Well needless to say, the group will NOT be going back there, and I don't believe I will be going there either. WAY to bad.
