What an amazing restaurant! When we walked in, we were shocked to see how big it was! The rooms were all beautiful, we ate in the sunroom, covered in fantastic tropical plants and colorful painted furniture. I had the Chicken Pecan Salad with fresh pineapple and all kinds of fruit. It was the best chicken salad I have ever had and I am 73! Beautiful presentation, delicious food, attentive waiter. Definitely go there.
I was a little skeptical because of the reviews. The naked rellenos, rice and beans were not that good. There are a lot of places with better southwestern food. My husband had the salmon and sweet potato fries, which was very good. The cheesecake was very good. I also thought the chips and salsa were very flavorful.
While this place is just set in the middle of the bigger Double Eagle restaurant, it does have charm. That's where it ends! I had the penne pasta, and my husband had the steak and enchiladas. It took a very long time to get our food, which was a bad sign. We were told they were just waiting on the steak. When we finally did get our food, my pasta was complete mush, the meatballs were overcooked and awful and the sauce was sour. At this price they couldn't offer a side salad or even a piece of bread of some kind. Terrible!!!! The steak was good, as was the green chili but nothing special by any means. The ONE enchilada almost disappeared on the plate. Also, our table wobbled through the whole meal. Overall this was a D- meal with me leaving hungry but our wallet definitely felt lighter. Would not recommend at all!
Food and drinks were ok. WON TONS were only standout. Margaritas are good, not amazing but maybe I'm pampered cause I'm from Santa Fe (tomasita and the shed Margarita are amazing) Staff super nice and atmosphere fun.
We initially weren’t pleased when we arrived for our reservation at the Double Eagle, as we were told that the room we had booked online wasn’t guaranteed, even though my aunt had reserved it months in advance to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were visiting from Houston, and my aunt knows I adore old-world gilded glamour. I did get a glimpse of the room, and it was stunning. While we understood the mix-up wasn’t anyone’s fault, we decided to stay and were seated next to a beautiful tree made of empty Patron bottles. From the appetizers to the main course, margaritas, and dessert, everything was excellent. I visit my husbands family in NM twice a year, and I’ll definitely be back. Next time, though, I’ll be sure to book over the phone to guarantee we can experience the Double Eagle.
Nearly empty restaurant, yet we had a two hour wait for fish and chips.
Waited an hour just to be told they were out of what we ordered. Others around us told us food was bad or cold. Trust the low ratings for this one. Would be fine for a drink maybe? Looks really cool inside
Atmosphere is very comfortable, maybe a good place to drink but the food was definitely subpar, they can definitely do better!! Service was slow, said they had a party so couldn’t attend to us.
Nasty, Nasty!!!! Service was extremely poor, ordered the bbq ribs and were the nastiest thing I have ever eaten. Literally two bites and done . Never again!!!
The Spanish rice and the red chili has way too much cumin in it. You can even smell it on the plate. You don’t put cumin and red chili! The steak was great. The beans were fantastic, but dinner was really ruined with the cumin. Everyone at the table did not eat the rice because it was so overpowering.

The gourmet burgers were absolutely mouth watering...specifically the bbq with onion ring burger and the green chili burger, both out of this world!!! The specialty margaritas were delicious and memorable! Didn't love the Firecracker shrimp appetizer-needed spice on the rice paper and a different sauce other than the cocktail sauce. The service staff were amazing and the atmosphere of both restaurants gorgeous!
Arrived at 6:18 pm on September 1st and the manager (Aileen, I think was her name) immediately gave a bunch of attitude. She told me it was a 45 minute wait without asking if we have a reservation or our name. She very aggresive and hostile in both tone, demeanor, and word choice. I informed her we have a reservation and sat us soon thereafter, but was very bratty. While waiting to be seated, we heard her tell several other people waiting outrageous wait times. The wait times were outrageous because there were plenty of open tables, little to no other parties waiting and plenty of waitresses. It appears she was making an excuse for her poor management.
She was also trying to "train" what appears to be a new host. She was very hostile with him, demeaning him in front of customers. I felt bad for him cause it appeared he was really trying.
Finally sat down at apprapproximately 6:24 pm. Ordered our meals at approximately 10 minutes later. Food arrived around 7:35 pm. Interesting to note, I never once saw someone clearing tables after customers left. There were at least 5 dirty tables in the area around us.
Food was cold, lacked flavor, poorly presented and had small portions. I am not being hyperbolic when I say it was the worst New Mexican food I have ever had.
The waitress was very polite and attentive. Her name was Aaliyah. She was the only positive part of the dining experience. I felt bad for her because I am sure she was getting an earful from other customers. And she also has to worked with her rude, angry manager.
Finally, the failed to check me on the OpenTable app, and so it got reported that I missed the reservation. OpenTable said I risked having my account suspended. Thankfully I was able to fight it and prove that I was there by sharing a copy of my receipt. But still, this is the result of the manager not asking for the name of our reservation.
This could be the worst and most poorly managed restaurant in New Mexico.

The best part about this place is the atmosphere. So much greenery and old school decor with amazing classic music. Service was also wonderful, shout out to our girl Cameron.
Kobe Burger was my favorite! Famous chicken mesilla was good. I highly recommend these two items. Looking forward to returning.
