had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at Rio Grande Winery. As a Mexican customer, I felt that my friends and I were treated unfairly and with clear bias. The owner, Carol, checked all of our IDs (we are all 22 from Texas) but took an unusually long time examining them as if they were fake. One of my friends even presented her American passport, and Carol rudely asked if she had a license instead. When my friend explained that she only had a Mexican driver’s license, Carol gave her a nasty look and returned the IDs by practically throwing them back at us.
From that moment on, we noticed her giving us unfriendly and judgmental looks, which made us feel extremely unwelcome. On top of that, the overall service was very slow.
The only positive part of our visit was our waitress, Rebecca, who was kind, attentive, and truly made an effort to help us. Unfortunately, her professionalism could not make up for how poorly we were treated otherwise.
I left feeling very uncomfortable and disrespected. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this winery, especially for people of color or those visiting with Mexican identification.

The owner Carol was very disrespectful. She took forever to check our ids and would not only snag them out of our hands but would throw them to the table when giving them back. Talked very disrespectfully to us but also gave us dirty looks throughout the entire interaction, when ordering the wine bottle called “La Rosa de Guadalupe” on their menu, made fun of us for speaking Spanish. Stop attending us and told her coworkers “they only speak Spanish” in a disrespectful tone as she walked away. Throughout the entire night gave us dirty looks every time we passed by or she was simply passing by our table. We went to complain to the manager we were told she was the owner and there was nothing we could do but they had complaints about similar encounters.

I had a very disappointing experience at Rio Grande Winery in Las Cruces. The owner, Carol, was extremely rude to me and my friends from the moment we walked in. When checking our IDs, she gave us unnecessary attitude, and throughout the night she kept giving us unfriendly looks.
The worst moment was when we ordered a wine called La Rosa de Guadalupe (which is the actual name on the menu). Even though we asked for it in English, she interrupted us with, “I don’t speak Spanish,” in a dismissive and rude way. It felt unprofessional and discriminatory, especially since the wine itself has a Spanish name.
As paying customers, we expected to enjoy good wine and a welcoming atmosphere, but instead we left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place given the treatment we received.

I totally recommend to go here, the place is amazing, the view of the mountains is beautiful. There's a lot of parking, so not issues with that.
The chairs are very comfortable, and there are a lot of devices to keep you cool when the weather is hot.
I tried two wines, how they taste? That's subjective so I let you find out.
The menu has a variety to choose from and everything tasted good.
There was live music, and there's a large space to dance if you want to. Great for the mood. The music was loud enough to enjoy it while being able to still have a conversation.
Now the reason of the 4 stars are as follow: The first one, not enough restrooms. There are two in the yard and one inside, they need at least two more.
The waiter service was short, For a Saturday with full house is strange.

The wines are amazing (especially the Viognier!) and Edgar was an amazing server, very professional, knowledgeable, and amiable! We can't wait to come back!

Have always loved this venue in the past for small gatherings and parties, until recently. Their events coordinator is extremely rude and unprofessional and lacks communication with the staff. Would not recommend for your event.

Arrived and went to the bar with three servers available and the lady asked us twice to go find a seat and they would serve us. 20 minutes later still no service. Sad to see a once great place for a good glass of wine and great service has declined to a place I will now avoid!

Bummer!

Just left this place, service was horrible. Came with friends ready to spend and ended up leaving after having to wait for each drink for at least 15 min each... and we were going to the bar with no wait.. all of the staff was in the back chit chatting everytime. There were other groups upset waiting also. More than likely not going back

We had a bad experience with a waiter there at the winery. We got there at 4 pm for dinner. The waiter didn't seem very pleasant serving us. He took our order. A few minutes went by and I saw a waitress and asked if I could add to our order. She said yes. I ordered another dish. That dish came out in 15 minutes. Our original waiter said he was coming back with the other meals. Nothing for 30 minutes. We ate the one meal between us waiting another 20 mins. I then took my dog back to our 5th wheel and came back 15 mins later and asked my husband if he saw the waiter. He said the waiter was now busy helping other tables and never came back to our table. So, we got there at 4 and we left at 5:20 after I went in and found the waiter and asked about our food. He looked at me and asked what we ordered. I said forget it and to cancel everything and figure out what we owe. I went and got my husband and we walked out. My husband went back in and talked with the nice waitress to see how much our bill was. She was apologetic. So, this is what I believed happened. Our waiter forgot to put our order in when we ordered. The waitress who took my extra order put it in right way. He deliberately did this to us and the only thing I can think of is we are white and he wasn't. It was discrimination the other direction.
