Old historic building in an old historic town. Delightful atmosphere and the food is great. A party of seven, ages 8 to 74 and every dish was fully devoured. The place was full within minutes of opening on a Thursday afternoon. Seems to be a very popular place. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

My wife and were taking a drive up the Turquoise Trail and decided to stop in at the Black Bird Saloon for a late lunch. The menu was amazing, and it was hard to settle on what I wanted. My wife was not very hungry, so she got the Tumbleweed, which was very good. After a lot of thought I settle on the El Chivato burger. The burger huge, cooked to perfection, and tasted great. I also got a side of the pickle green beans for my wife and I to share. They were very good with a nice amount of spice. The lady that took our order was super friendly and even recommended a local beer to go with my burger. Everyone we talked to in the restaurant was outstanding. We will definitely be heading back to try some more of their delicious food. If I could give this place six stars, I would!

I ordered one of their burgers, it was boring and had no flavor. The chips were overcooked and tasted burnt. For the price they charge, I guess I expected decent food. Service was just mediocre, not welcoming. Will I return or recommend? No. However, to each their own.

Summer is here and this is the perfect pit stop along the Turquoise Trail. Food was fresh and tasty and service was friendly. We sat on the patio and watched the world slow down a bit. You can even buy some provisions to take home !

Omg! Extremely small town with a fabulous restaurant?!? The elk burger with stilton blue cheese was the best burger I've had in years, and I'm a bit picky. Stop by and meet Patrick and his stellar staff in a saloon over 100 years young. I will be trying everything on the menu.

Came here after the bland crawfish fest in Madrid the other night and the ShapeShifter blew my socks off. Both veal/lamb patties were expertly cooked to medium rare perfection, and the buttered parsley toast with a little tang of garlic tied all of the flavors together. Best thing I’ve eaten in NM for quite a while.Good beer selection and very kind waitstaff. Will come again next time I’m in the area for a hike.
