A rather unassuming establishment right off the main road of the hippie-town of Madrid, but the food was anything but. I was blown away by how good the food was, and still find myself thinking about the meal I had here. My family and I came Christmas Eve, we all started with the french onion soup, and it might be the best I've ever had. For the main course I had the duck, which was cooked exceptionally well. While these menus offerings might be seasonal, the quality at which everything was made leads me to believe it transfers to their dishes at all times of the year.

Great service, nice outdoor venue. Food was excellent! Beautiful day to enjoy a nice lunch with friends. Shopping in the area made for a great day trip
Good food, mellow atmosphere, great beer selection, eclectic clientele. Fun place to eat and people watch whilst in Madrid.

Ate outside. Plenty of shade. Bartender was especially friendly. Really good fish and chips. Good beer. This is not a fine dining place. It's a great casual dining experience.
Parking: Lots of room in front.

Found an unusually quiet time here for my favorite item on the menu - Seared Ahi Tuna. I get the "starter" that is a full meal for me.Plus they are dog friendly and my dog met a new friend!Came back again 2 weeks later for the Hollar Veggie Cheeseburger on a Gluten Free Bun. Delicious!!!

We got cheese burger. Was great. 1/2 pound of burger, and I eat it all. With fries. They have live music by local musicians. Indoor or outdoor dinning.

Surprisingly disappointing barbecue.Very nice service and pleasant atmosphere, if you're in Madrid for whatever reason it's not a bad choice, but just get a burger.

Stopped in on our way to Santa Fe and got a quick burger and a beer. Food was good. Nice outdoor seating as well. Enjoyed it and would return.
Fabulous experience. My mother in-law wanted to go to Madrid. She talked about the fun vibe in the town. We went to The Hollar for lunch. They have an extensive menu. I ordered the spinach and goat cheese salad. My mother in-law ordered the Ahi Tuna. The food was awesome. The restaurant also have 4 to 5 meal options for your dog. Live music was playing and the outdoor seating area was fantastic. Definitely a revisit!
Great find!! Live acoustic music of classics in a local outdoor/ indoor restaurant. Fun old artifacts. Superb local beer with slow cooked barbecue. Outstanding ribs, pork’s and brisket. Okra, cole slaw and curry ranch sauce brought southwest flavors to life. Perfect stop on art filled town of Madrid for lunch or dinner

I just checked Guy Fieri's website on the Food Network to see if he's featured this place. Negative. Guy NEEDS to introduce this place on Triple D.The Hollar is rather off the beaten path and it almost looks like a food truck or dive that built a dining room in the back of it. I'm so glad me and my husband got curious and checked Yelp to give us the green light. It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside (paper plates were the sacrifice of the experience).I got the warm goat cheese salad, which blew me away. How does the chef make those dollops of goat cheese all crispy? The added grilled chicken, grapes and seasonings were sublime. I would drive miles to have that salad again. My husband loved his buffalo strips lunch special and also said it was uniquely fantastic. This dive is wonderfully dog friendly too, with its own "howler menu" to feed Fido or Spot.Clearly, this is one very talented chef, and we can't wait to return for new surprises.
Fabulous food. Great service. Wonderful owner. Beef brisket tacos and cheese grits.
We dined outside, where you order and pay at the counter and your food is brought to the table. There is indoor dining, but I didn't go in there. The outdoor area is next to main street, but the day I visited was not busy, so it wasn't noisy. The food was good, with probably the best side order of fruit we received anywhere in the US at any price point. Red grapes, blueberries, strawberries and several slices of orange, all beautifully fresh. A good place for casual dining while watching the world go by.
