I gave a one star rating due to the restaurant being closed when hours listed on Google stated they should have been open, and not having the opportunity to sample the food. (I do understand that small towns have unique challenges. And this town certainly qualifies as a small town) Most of the reviews were positive in regards to the food. While most of the negative ones dealt with the service aspect. Unfortunately for my visit, Brett's was closed on this particular evening. I did notice that it appears the restaurant might be up for sale. This might explain the reason it was closed on a Wednesday evening.

The men’s room sinks did not have any flowing water in either sink. Reported it back to manager and she couldn’t care less and made the excuse it was the building’s responsibility. Wasn’t friendly the rest of the night and didn’t say one word to our large group while paying or leaving.

Took 20 minutes for someone to take our order and another 45 for our food to come out. We weren’t given an itemized receipt for our bill. The food is EXTREMELY overpriced for the quality and wait time. We did not get the appetizer we ordered. An order came out totally wrong and was not corrected.

We are annual patrons of Brett's Bistro. Every winter this is our family splurge meal and every visit was outstanding....We arrived knowing there would be a significant wait as the restaurant only seats around 45. I was fortunate enough to meet the new owner Mike and we chitchatted for a few minutes prior to being seated. Mike you seem like a genuine good guy and I wish you the best and had I seen you before we left I would have told you the following in person.Once seated about 15 minutes later the hostess comes to take our order. I mentioned them being short staffed as only one waitress was rushing around trying to accommodate an at capacity restaurant. The hostess/waitress states she is actually the manager and that they aren't short staffed. She does this to make more tip money.Being a former restaurant manager myself this was a red flag.We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer with coffee and tea. The drinks arrived after I asked the server/hostess/manager about them when our crab cakes arrived. Crab cakes were decent and not overpriced. My wife and I ordered onion soup and a site salad out first but they never arrived. Our two girls ordered the prime Rib with loaded baked potato and cfs with gravy on the side. Prime Rib came with mashed potatoes and the cfs was covered in gravy. My wife and I had the almond crusted salmon.Once the food was delivered and we realized the mistake there was no one in site to tell. I told the kids to make due as the staff was clearly overwhelmed. We never had a single drink refill or table touch to ask us if everything was OK.I asked a buss boy for a box and started to get up to go to the cashier when our manager/hostess/server came to the table. I asked to speak to Mike (owner) but she said he went to get something but never came back. When I told her the discrepancies with our orders and not receiving our soup and salad, she immediately blamed the kitchen and said I will comp your salmon. I did not ask for a comp, just to remove the soup and salad. I must say as a former KM it ticks me off when the front of the house blames the kitchen as an excuse for poor service.I went to the cashier which was my server/hostess/manager and she hands me the check with both salmon meals comped. She left the salad and soup which we didn't get but took off two $38 plates. As I'm paying the table that sat after us and next to us was at the host stand asking our server/host/manager if their food order was put in. She told them yes and that the kitchen was just really busy. The woman states "but we had soup and salad". I left before a response was given.Mike just letting you know. Your manager/hostess/server is scamming you and going to ruin your newly owned once great bistro.

Only writing this because in the past, we have enjoyed this restaurant. We went to enjoy a drink apres-ski. They don’t have a liquor license. Ordered medium steaks and it was so close to raw it was actually cold. It’s a lot of money to not cook a steak correctly. The best way to describe the service is odd…. Desert menu is nearly nonexistent. The pie offerings are in a very shallow pie tin. Any way, we use to know where we would eat in Red River, but now, we won’t be back!

Excellent service and the food was definitely something we will talk about for a while. Everything we ordered was just absolutely fantastic. We are foodies so when I say it is really good, we'll it is. We will come back for sure. My new favorite restaurant in the valley.

Found this cool little place by accident and I'm glad we did. By far the best filet mignon I've ever had. I never take photos of my food and post it, i sure did tonight. Great service, amazing food and nice atmosphere.

I was in Red River, alone, and wanted a nice meal. Brett's Bistro (now owned by Mike as of about a week) got good reviews and was in easy walking distance, so I went. I had a NY strip steak, and it was delicious, cooked just as I asked for it. Tasty accompaniments, too. early November is off-season in Red River so there weren't many people in the restaurant, but the service was friendly and quick. Also, I'm guessing because things were slow, there weren't as many many choices as the web site suggests, but again, great food and service. What's not to like?

This is a small fine dining restaurant in the Lifts West complex. It boasts a regular menu plus nightly specials. Service was good and the atmosphere is intimate. The food was excellent. I had the Fried Catfish and the wife had the NY strip. Be prepared to pay though, prices are high. A great place to eat in Red River.

The chicken fried steak is very good. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were fantastic too. Very friendly staff and a nice quiet atmosphere compared to most of the other Red River restaurants. We will definitely be back each trip from now on.

Brett's Bistro knows food! We have dined here each time we have vacationed in Red River for quite a few years and have never been disappointed! The food is fresh, from scratch and delicious and the restaurant has a quiet, cozy atmosphere. My husband had the Panko Chicken and I splurged with the filet and lobster - sooooo delicious! Highly recommend!!!

As a former employee I would not recommend eating here. I have seen Food dropped on the floor by cooks and picked up off a dirty nasty floor and served to customers!!

We have been traveling Angel Fire and Red River for a few weeks and this was the best food and service we had. My man is lactose intolerant and Benjamin went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. Because we didn't want a baker we ordered the fries with the prime rib (seared in duck fat!) and they were the best we've had in a long time. The escargot was delish and their homemade bread with hunks of garlic was yummy. Thank you Benjamin for taking such good care of us.
