Ignore the mean reviews from Texans whom you can never please in Red River anyway. This is a beloved, locally owned restaurant serving traditional Northern New Mexican dishes since the 1970s. We’ve been eating here for 16 years and love it. I highly recommend the Stuffed Sopapilla or Carne Adovada Specials which come with fresh, hot sopapillas with honey butter after the entree. Also, the Agave Wine margaritas are a must!

We eat here every time we visit Red River. Food has always been good and the service is as well. I try something different each time.

If you are looking for authentic New Mexican red or green chile then this is NOT the place for you. The green chile was decent but the red chile and carne adovada was not worth it. When I asked for hot (per the menu) they recommended the tex mex chile. Tje salsa was also average at best. Very disappointed overall. I gave it 3 stars only because the people I were with seemed to like it but also had no concept of New Mexico chile. So, anyone that doesn't understand the difference probably will be fine with what they order.

We love the feeling of this cute little restaurant. The waitress we had was not very personable at all. She actually rolled her eyes when we asked for a different sauce than what she suggested. The queso was way too thick. The salsa was okay, but a little runny and more bland than what I prefer.

This was less than enjoyable... we are from Texas and Sundance was very disappointing... the salsa tasted like flavorless tomato soup, the meat in our dishes was soooo bland. Beans were burned on the fajita platter... that's why onions and peppers go on the hot skillet... not beans. The only thing we enjoyed was the cheese melted on our dishes. The drive to Angel Fire is worth it if you want better mexican food.

If I could I would leave 0 stars. Definitely not worth your time unless you like mediocre tasteless Mexican food, Not even the sopapillas were authentic. Extremely disappointed.

My favorite restaurant in Red River, a must visit on every trip. Disappointed in charging for the sopapillas when they used to be free, but the food is very good.
