Was excited to try this highly rated restaurant. Went on a Wednesday night and there was a good atmosphere and the service we recieved made us feel at home.The food however was subpar.The fried green chilie rings were probably the best thing.The green chilie enchaladas were the worst that I've had. The best way I can describe the enchiladas were as if they were a chalupa. The meat was unseasoned dark chicken meat. The plate was lacking flavor and texture.Stuffed poblano was OK. Nothing special. Would be nice if they offered a beef option.The queso burger was just awkward. I got more bread than meat. The meat that I did get did taste good, however there was just too much bread. The bread was a wheat bun. I would stay away from this option.I may have chose the wrong plates, but from the expierence that we had I won't be going back.

I placed 4 orders of the Brussel Sprouts for pickup Friday evening. When i arrived to pick up the order, the restaurant was mildly busy. In the past, one order filled one large to go box. When I got home, I saw that the 4 small boxes provided in my to go bag amounted to maybe 1.5 orders of the same side that I've ordered in the past and soggy to boot. I was swindled for 4 orders, including a tip. As a local patron that used to frequent this establishment weekly, I will never return. Neither will I continue to recommend this establishment to other locals or visitors.

Freshly arrived in Ruidoso for the weekend, as always we greatly rely on reviews from others. Most restaurants in the area were a real mixed bag going from 5 stars to 1 stars in the same week. I opted for Grill Caliente. It showed an interesting menu and had a full bar and a few craft beers. As suggested by the website, I called for a reservation and was assured that they weren't needed. The town on a Thursday night seemed very quiet. We arrived around 6:45pm. Upon our arrival the restaurant had several tables, but obviously not very busy. The sign at the hostess stand said to wait to be seated and it didn't take long for an older gentleman to show up. My wife who's a bit more outgoing than I am, threw in a cheerful good evening. The host, which I strongly believed was the owner, looked at us, looked at his watch, and without saying a single word grabbed 2 menus and showed us to a table. We were obviously disturbing a quiet night- my wife and I looked at each other and wondered if we had mistaken 6:45pm for a much later time. I contemplated just leaving - and then what? Where were we going to eat? We sat down, and started looking at the menu. Within a few minutes our server Ezra showed up and made up for that first bad impression. She was gracious, polite, and extremely effective. I started out with their house salad - greens, with several nice slices of tomatoes, grilled purple onions, and my choice of dressing - a chipotle ranch which was obviously house made. We followed with 2 burgers. Both were gigantic, cooked to perfection and a nice size of house French fries. Overall a great dinner and pleasant service. On the way out, the owner thank us and wished us goodnight. We had obviously came in at a bad time. I'm happy that we decided to stay to enjoy this great meal. First impressions can be deceptive, but are so important. We will surely be back if we return in the area.

We came to Grill Caliente after leaving another place due to waiting 25mim after our reservation time and waiting for 25min for a server to greet our table. So we were just hangry at this point. It was really nice to walk in and be immediately seated, server came right over for drinks. Atmosphere was perfect, music not too loud, and the tables weren’t packed together The service was exceptional here, and it really turned our night around. Our waitress was attentive and checked with us regularly. The food was pretty good, specifically the chili rellano and the skillet. We will definitely be going back there again!

My pork chop was raw. When I say raw, I mean raw! I cut into it and it was still very pink and rubbery. Only the very outside appeared to have been cooked. It didn’t appear the chef put any effort into cooking it. Sent it back and when it was returned, it was fully cut in half. One side was done, the side with the bone was still undercooked. Our waitress was inattentive to our table. It was just myself, my spouse and teen son. She came back and checked on her other two tables often. Never checked on us.The atmosphere was very inviting. I would give it another try with a different waitress and would order something different.

Horrible experience the receptionist ignored me when I arrived at the place as if no one had arrived, he cared more about having a conversation with some people who were in the place who took care of me was very unprofessional and above all racist I felt super bad, it was super ostile (TERRIBLE)

The food was terrific. Probably the freshest dinner I have had out in some time, and it was needed after several days of hiking and biking. The staff was friendly but never offered dessert. It seemed as if they wanted to turn over customers as the rush was starting to come. A bit small, but I think that allows better 1/1 service.
