I do believe the gift shop is closed but it’s well worth the drive up for the views. If you look close on the way up you might even spot a few Mule Deer.
This is the second time we’ve visited from Oregon this year. Both times the gift shop was completely closed with no explanation.
It seems to be permanently closed but hopefully that’s temporary, of course the trails and bathroom and overlook are still open. As someone else pointed it out it tends to be 10-15 degrees cooler here than lower elevation in the city. It can be windy and snowy as well.
It was closed.
Note- the gift shop itself seems to be permanently closed. At least I have never seen it open in the past year. But the main reason for coming here remains- and that is to enjoy the beautiful views and access to trails that lead to the tram and restaurant. It gets quite windy at this location and temps can easily be 10-15 degrees cooler than at the base of the mountain. The drive up the mountain is gorgeous and there are several pullouts and trail heads as you move towards the crest.
We hiked to the crest house from the tram August 2023. The crest house was completely locked despite signs outside that said open 7 days a week. Looking inside the windows the building is emptied of all gift shop and snack bar items they used to have. The tables are all stacked in a corner. There is a heavy amount of dust on everything. So although this says temporarily closed this looks permanently closed to me. There are vault toilets outside but no water to refill your bottle for the return trip to the tram.
Price good

Yhe gift shop was close when my daughter took me there, therefore can't give a good rate. The view was beautiful.
Always enjoy the drive up to the Sandia Crest House. We were expecting to be able to have lunch but found it locked up and closed with nothing to indicate it has been open in quite awhile. Would be sad if this landmark was to no longer be a part of the Sandia Mountains experience. Five stars for the past trips and happy memories
I'm rating just ok because it is closed up. Would have been nice to get souvenirs or a snack after that drive
Very nice people
I had lunch here after riding my bicycle to the Crest. Great food, nice people, relaxing place to sit and rest my legs. Perfect!
