I was seated promptly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately the prime rib was chewy, and the atmosphere wasn’t great for dinner. They were playing old 80s pop music and two employees were chatting loudly right next to my table most of the time. Overall, not the best first experience for me.

We are from Albuquerque and wanted to have a little get away to eat here in Santa Fe. Valentines day🩷❤️The food was amazing the steak was so good. Baked potatoe excellent service was on point. We will be returning in the future. Not to mention they had a beautiful valentines day picture booth ❤️

Its what you expect for a restaurant attached to a rec center.

The steak was good but the atmosphere felt off. The staff felt intrusive while eating.

No issues with getting a table quickly. Friendly staff. I was not a fan of the spinach balls with cheese sauce, it had an odd taste. My husband had the fish and chips - great. My mother had a steak, cooked as she requested and with great flavor. I had the bourbon green chile burger - not cooked as I requested and too much black pepper, but the fries were great. My son had the pancakes, the size of the plate with whipped cream, that he loved. Went for my husband's birthday so the staff sang happy birthday and presented him with a piece of cake and extra spoons. The cake was divine, we all had a piece. Overall, a lovely restaurant, the parking lot is a little confusing, but great attentive service and good food. Also, good music choices.

Steak was tough and I couldn't eat it. Fried avocado was over ripe and black with too much fried crust. We had to ask for bread and that was the best food. Sad how once a favorite place is not producing edible meals.

The Bourbon Grill sits slightly askew from Santa Fe’s well-worn culinary pathways, tucked near the equally enigmatic Harry’s Roadhouse—a location that feels less like an accident than a quiet statement. This is a place you arrive at deliberately, having decided, perhaps unconsciously, to step away from the crowds and the choreography of expectation in Santa Fe.

What distinguishes The Bourbon Grill is not spectacle but steadiness. The staff are warm in the way that cannot be trained: attentive without hovering, kind without performance. They appear to enjoy their work, and that pleasure subtly governs the room, creating an atmosphere that is inviting rather than impressed with itself. In an era when hospitality is often mistaken for branding, this kind of ease feels quietly radical.

This is not artful Santa Fe fine dining, nor does it aspire to be. Instead, it is an upscale Southwestern grill that values thought, creativity, and execution over ornamentation. The food is down to earth and unpretentious, yet meticulously prepared. Cleanliness and care are evident everywhere—from the dining room to the plate.

The cocktail menu is confident and well considered, anchored, as one would hope, by a curated and genuinely outstanding bourbon selection. Cocktail execution earns a solid 4 out of 5: thoughtful, balanced, and satisfying without drifting into preciousness. Keep in mind that earning a 5 from me is difficult.

The atmosphere remains relaxed and democratic—family friendly, even—which is not something I seek, but here it works. The room accommodates everyone easily, another sign of a place comfortable in its own skin.

There are practical pleasures too, often overlooked in restaurant criticism but deeply felt by diners: beautiful views, particularly of the stars at night, and—wait for it—plenty of parking. These things matter, especially when you are trying to enjoy yourself during the holidays in Santa Fe.

My Beef Chupadero was executed perfectly, both in flavor and presentation. The red chile piñon sauce added depth and warmth, the grilled scallion grounding the dish with a smoky sweetness. It tasted like an upscale version of an old cowboy meal—historical without nostalgia, generous without excess. It was the perfect size for me to make a meal out of it.

The Bourbon Grill does not ask to be discovered; it simply rewards those who make the effort. Step away from the predictable, and you may find that something quieter, more thoughtful, and more satisfying is waiting just off the road.

Unfortunately, being prime rib night, both of our cuts of prime rib were inedible. The meat was so tough our knives were unable to cut it nor could we chew it. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. There is no excuse for this. I was born in Santa Fe and enjoyed many fine meals while growing up here years age. I have moved back and looked forward to a good meal. Unfortunately this was not the case.

It wasn't great. The are friendly, but the food was not good. We ordered prim ribs and it was tough and tasteless.

Trinity was our waitress and she was amazing. Very professional and tentative. Only issue was the shrimp cocktail. This took awhile to come out as we ordered for an appetizer and the shrimp was smaller than we were expecting.

Always wanted to try this restaurant and finally did. Seated in a booth by the fireplace in the bar area - very nice! Great happy hour selection and prices on food and beverages offered every day! We had the Chile cheese bites and they were dry good! Ordered a burger and the fish and chips. Burger was ordered medium, and was more well done (no pink and dry), fish was not to my liking, but others may like. Fries were excellent and the double fried type - very crispy! Service was outstanding. We will definitely return and try other menu and happy hour items!

Please fix the music. Trinity was decent, nothing spectacular, but then again, neither was the food. Prime Rib is very low quality, sinewy, and either roasted in house too quickly or is just a bad product. Sara lee makes a decent prime rib believe it or not, I think Sysco carries it. Steak had no seasoning, Au jus was some odd experiment of soy/teriyaki?? Knorr makes a very easy Au Jus, can be made to order. I would at least offer that along side of your teriyaki(au jus) sauce. Sautéed spinach slimy and oily. Price point was fair but I would rather pay $10-$15 more per person and have a better quality meal. Bread was par, no points deducted. But the dang music going in and out. It's almost intolerable. If you're having data issues out here just play CDs or MP3s.
