Bagels were excellent as was service!! I’ll definitely be back to try the sandwiches. Saw the owner pulling out a roast fresh out the oven to spice up for the roast beef sandwiches. Can’t wait to come back!!
I had the bagel with lox. The bagel was perfect and all of the toppings were in good proportions. All of the coffee is great but I also had the Algerian latte that has honey in it. A wonderful treat!
Passing through Santa Fe and dropped in. The Spanish beef au jus was delicious! The menu had a good selection of soups, sandwiches and burgers, including vegan options. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The place has a hipster vibe to it, and the prices reflect this ($8 for hot dog).
I stopped in for a cup of matzo ball soup to eat in and a toasted bagel with butter to go. The soup broth was ok. The matzo ball disintegrated into small grains when I cut into it with my spoon. Maybe not enough egg white? The bagel-to-go was kind of soft and mushy. I was wondering if they might have microwaved it rather than toasting it. A friend told me he had had a good Reuben sandwich there, so perhaps it is worth another try. The owner and employees were violating all the COVID masking requirements. There were also no signs at the entry regarding the mask requirements for customers. I spoke to the owner who acted like he didn't know about the statewide requirements, which is hard to believe. This is why I gave them 1 star.
We had a good simple lunch. We both had Ruben sandwiches - mine with corned beef & my friend with turkey. Both were very good & simple with good sides, cole slaw without too much mayo & a descent potato salad. Also, good coffee here.
I had high expectations for this restaurant after having read such high praise from the SF Reporter. We went for Sunday Brunch and waited just under an hour for our food. The food was good but the portions small. We witnessed several other tables get up and leave without eating due to how long it was taking to get served. I witnessed lots of unhappy customers ? . The restaurant did not even try to offer courtesy drinks or an appetizer for the long wait.
We were excited to try the BLT w green chile but after waiting for about half an hour and checking in a few times they finally told us they couldn’t make our order because they didn’t have the gluten free bread we ordered for the sandwiches. And then they only refunded some of our money. We left w nothing and spent about $5 and 45 minutes.
The worst dining experience I have had in Santa Fe. Never actually got my food. After close to two hours of waiting, several rude interactions with the staff, and one cup of coffee (that took almost half an hour to order), I closed my tab and left.I am really disappointed, considering I have heard that food is great (again, I wouldn't know).
The Marquez Deli is worth seeking out. A plain Jane ambience belies its high quality offerings of dishes rarely, if ever, seen on Santa Fe menus. We've really enjoyed the mushroom bisque, matzoh ball soup and falafel for lunch and take-out for dinner. The weekend brunch is equally delicious, with several options. We've gobbled up both the salmon eggs Benedict and the traditional version. The potato latkes are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The bagels, flown in from the east coast, are probably the best in the Southwest. A hidden gem.
There's lots going on here to love, in the space backstreet bistro used to occupy. Go check it out for yourself, there's no risk and lots to gain. Soups were holdover, but still some good new options on sandwiches and sweets.
Restaurantji Recommends
The restaurant has a nice, cozy Cafe ambience. The owners and staff were delightful, personable, and welcoming. The food was visually appealing and delicious. We ordered the strawberry pancakes, potato latkas on the side, two egg breakfast, and corned beef and hash. All were wonderful and would recommend to everyone.
Great place for lunch! The sandwiches are some of the best I've had in santa fe.
Served us spoiled cream with our coffee. Didnt realize it until after the first cup. Feeling ill now. Will never go again.
Matzoh ball soup was delicious. Reuben was delicious. Esther was delicious. I'll be back when in town.
It was about 12 noon. there was 1 person eating at a table when I was there. I ordered the Rachel sandwich for take out and was super excited to see Latkes on the menu. I'm from NYC, so that is a rare treat for me out here. 25 minutes later, of sitting and waiting, and watching 2 other people come in and pick up their food, and still nothing for me. I sat right in front of the counter. Its not like the host couldn't see me. I had to get up and go ask if they forgot about me. The host checked in the back and you could see a fast and furious tossing of food items and firing up of griddles. My food came out about 8-9 minutes later. The sandwich was "ok". Nothing great about it. But the Latkes were burnt to a crisp on the bottom, but raw on the top and middle, like gelatinous batter. Which tells me (having owned a restaurant myself), that YUP, they forgot about me and rushed to get the latkes done and in the end, everything seemed and looked rushed, and the latkes...what a disappointment. No apologies, no free pastry for waiting...nothing. So...Once again, away from NYC and I am disappointed, They used to be Mimosa café. Now I know why they had to change their name.... Looks like they will have another 6 month run with this new one. My guess...with service like this: Out of business in less than a year
