Great coffee and pastry in a very enticing place

We just popped in to see the place as it had been 20 years since we were there almost every day. I was disappointed that they didn't still have the huge amount of newspapers and magazines from around the world like they used to. Probably just a sign of the times in this digital dystopia. Still a cool spot for a good local coffee and cake.

Fun place to gather for coffee, more of a locals hangout instead of the touristy kinda place. 😀

Man oh man, the vanilla lattes were on point. My best friend is obsessed with chocolate croissants, and she said the one she had from here rivals Paris!

Do you enjoy hanging with hostile boomers who'd just as soon see you dead? Then pull up a chair.

Downtown Subscription eclipsed even my high expectations. With a well-stocked bookstore next door, an airy interior, and a huge garden/patio, your brews and pastries go down easy. DS supports newspapers and magazines by selling them along with your meal. Try the granola: nutty and rich!

Great atmosphere. Burned coffee. Servers were too engrossed in their own conversations to greet or thank us.

This was my cortado after waiting 10 minutes in line... Sorry but I'd say that's really bad presentation and that this isn't a true coffee shop.

Had a delicious large cappuccino and pastry (cinnamon twist) and sat inside. Cost $10.

Parking: They have a parking lot they share with another business. It's tight, but probably typical for downtown Santa Fe.

I went there in the middle of the winter, so their outdoors don't look that enticing, but you can check other reviews... their outdoor space is a wonderful place to enjoy a summer day. This is a fun cafe that still preserves a great atmosphere in spite of the magazines (hence it's name) heydays gone (I heard that they used to have thousands of different titles, don't know that truth of it, but I am quite sure they had quite a subscription base...). Food is simple and casual, but tasty. You order at the counter and wait to be called. Of course, coffee and teas are a big part of the menu. Fun place to chat with friends or work with your computer.

This place makes me so happy :). It’s good for focused work and for socializing and hanging out. Love grabbing a tea and a magazine — great energy.

Cannot believe it has taken me so long to find this hidden gem. Loved it. Great coffee and fun place to be. Very social. Lots of regulars.
