While on vacation, we chose Joseph's for my husband's birthday dinner. Staff was very efficient and friendly; the food was outstanding. I had a basic but fresh pear/manchego salad to start with, then had the ratatouille starter for my main meal. The ratatouille was an explosion of flavor and the hearty portion was more than I could eat. My husband has celiac disease and appreciated the abundance of gluten-free items to choose from. His dinner was carefully prepared to avoid cross-contamination. He had the duck confit pad Thai and enjoyed it immensely.

The steal was perfect and delicious. The veggie enchilada was bright and colorful, unique and tasty. Good wine selection.

I love Joseph's, the vibe, service, food. That said, my recent meal there was okay. My pear and manchego salad was perfunctory. Very basic. The surprise and not in a good way was the duck breast. It was flabby in its taste and feel. Not inspired. Not that all dishes have to be head blowing off but that duck was not what I've experienced at Joseph's previously. Undercooked and bland. Despite this, I'll be back as there are other items to be had other than the duck.

Had the lamb burger was great ! And the mushroom entree and the brick chicken. Ambience inside very well done and good wine list !

Interesting intimate restaurant with an eclectic menu. The food was very tasty. Service was attentive. We were seated in the smaller room which made for a quieter, more intimate experience.

So happy to have overheard someone at my hotel mention this restaurant. Just thrilled for this find. The lamb burger will be in my dreams for weeks to come.

Everything about this experience was excellent. The space is cozy and comfortable. The service is impeccable. The food, out of this world. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Love the ambiance at Joseph's. As is true everywhere these days, I find the prices to be high. But the menu ranges between high-ish and moderate prices. Our waiter was very good, despite a really busy dining room. We prefer the still, filtered tap water they offered. Is it too much to ask for it to be at least a little chilled? It arrived tepid, which just isn't refreshing. Loved the "amuse" of homemade potato chips and olives.

We had a wonderful dinner. The wait staff gave us fabulous service. I had their Halibut special. It was outstanding. My husband had the duck and thought it was great too! We would definitely recommend this place!

Service and food was excellent, except for my crispy chicken, which was slightly overcooked.

What a gem! Superb food, great wine list. Very professional wait staff. A wonderful neighborhood place. The corn appetizer simply outstanding. A bit noisy, but well worth the experience. WE will return many times when in town.

I had visiting guests to celebrate a special occasion ... the evening couldn't have been better!! Enjoyed the best duck breast that I have eaten in years!! My guests were charmed by the surroundings, the service ... and most importantly by the food!! Absolutely loved our evening and will highly recommend Joseph's to everyone!!!

Love this restaurant, and rarely have had a less than perfect experience. This time was a little different. The sea bass flavors were lovely but part was too dry to eat. Also ordered a second glass of wine that never came. Am sure next time will be better!

A Santa Fe Treasure for Locals and OOTers Dinner this week at Joseph's was a strong reminder that the restaurant is a GREAT dining stop in SF // FOOD. Appetizers were the lamb ribs (not offered at many places in SF) and mushrooms // Joseph's regularly offers lamb ribs - but changes the preparation from time to time // The preparation currently on the menu was, simply, put, the best ever // Perfectly prepared with a great sauce that Chef should offer to go by the pint // The preparation is messy - required 2 napkins + 2 wet wipes per person - but, really worth it // The mushrooms were delivered with great flavors and a light crunch to each bite // Ask for the homemade chips to go with them // Soup was a watermelon gazpacho served cool and with very balanced flavors // Duck Pad Thai - a staple of the Joseph's menu and well it should be // Still great after all these years // WINES - Starr Bowers has created a great wine list to pair with Joseph's food // SERVICE - Our experience over the years is that Joseph's staff is very well trained and very ready to explain the food choices, wine choices, etc // This week our server was Jesse and he was excellent // AMBIANCE - We were outside in a small but calm seating area // PARKING - Signs were added to the parking lot that make parking a possible issue // One sign says the lot is for Joseph's, Iconic, etc // Then one area is designated Iconic only and one area is designated Joseph's only // Then area in the middle is a mystery //
