I've had lunch at LA Casa Sena on several occasions & has always been very pleasant. Food & cocktails were great, atmosphere on the patio is nice. This time though, there was no alcohol due to loss of their license, this was communicated to us just before the reservation time. But the sad part was the patio was overwhelmed by flies. We were swatting away flies the whole time. It was awful. Did not enjoy our food, did not want to stay and have any desserts or coffee because of the flies. I hope they remedy the alcohol issue, and also spray the patio to eliminate the flies, or provide table fans or something.
Very disappointed that this Gerald Peters restaurant is another victim of his holding company deciding not to renew its liquor/beer/wine licenses for their restaurants. What makes it worse is the dishonest manner in which they are taking reservations through Open Table and then hours before your reservation sending an e-mail that they don't have alcohol to serve as if its some sort of thing that just happened. We've learned that its been over a month since the license expired. The notice is too late to make a new reservation somewhere. There was a whopping 4 tables on a Thursday evening and a super slow kitchen which I can only assume was understaffed. Giant disappointment all around.
Very disappointed there was no alcoholic beverages available at all... which means many servers and others were not on duty .. the one server and hostess same gal.. was also food runner.. needless to say everything was slow .. but very quiet!
our waitress was wonderful. And Paul Bitts, waiter supreme... Is exceptional and La Casa Sena is very fortunate to have him. Thanks to all! You made our girls reunion last night dinner very very special.
Food was wonderful as usual, although the temporary lack of a liquor license was disappointing. Server was extremely good and attentive. Unfortunately, a loud-mouthed woman across the room shared information regarding her work to everybody present, including violating FERPA laws.
The restaurant was closed for lunch despite Open Table confirming and reminding me of the reservation I was notified two hours before the reservation that the restaurant was closed. TOO LATE FOR ME TO SEE
Brought guests here who were exhausted after the heat and crowds at the International Folk Art Market. The environment at Casa Sena was beautiful and peaceful, food great, service outstanding. Guests were able to decompress and enjoy the experience. The service delay I noted at our previous visit has been eliminated, and Casa Sena is back to its usual high standards.
La Casa Sena did not have a liquor license when we went for Sunday brunch yesterday (July 14, 2024). We were not informed when we made our reservation on Open Table several days before. Both are inexcusable! We have been to La Casa Sena many times before and it has been delightful up to now. Casa Sena - Please get your liquor license back so your clientele can fully experience your fine establishment!!
We've always enjoyed the food and service at La Casa Sena but the food was not up to par and everyone's meal was way too salty and no liquor was available! The young servers are not well trained and the older server was way too loud speaking on the phone in the back. We were disappointed overall. A very sad state of affairs for a restaurant that in the past we always expected the best from!
Everyone has a bad night, but we really experienced one here. Even though dining room was open we were cramped into a table we had to move. Waiter didn't know menu items. 1 steak was not cooked as ordered. Waiter forgot side dish. Employees were talking on cell on speaker. Took 20 minutes to even get check after having to ask staff to find waiter. To top it off, waiter thought he did something great for us by giving a $12 discount on $300 check

Too expensive for the quality of food we received. Service was friendly but slow and sometimes uninformed about the food options. All orders with meat came overcooked and we were questioned on our definition of “medium” versus what the waiter/chef considered it to be (that was first for me!). The Cantina seems to be closed and alcohol is no longer served, and mocktails are not offered which makes the beverage choices very limited. The patio area remains one of the more beautiful places to spend time, with a lovely fountain and trees and flowers all around but sadly, the restaurant doesn't rise to the level of its surroundings. I hope La Casa Sena can bring back some of its former magic!
Appetizers were really good but the salmon was bland and the rice that came with it was cold and flavorless. My steak was overcooked. A little too pricey for the quality in my opinion. The mashed potatoes were very good though.
Food was outstanding, environment lovely, noise level fine. Why did it take an hour between serving soup & bread, and getting other food? Finally went to hostess to protest, and food arrived shortly after. We weren't the only guests with this problem; we heard neighboring tables complaining about delays in service among themselves.
Unfortunately our experience and our meal was not as expected and very disappointing. While we understood that the restaurant had no alcohol we were prepared for an over the top extraordinary meal as we have experienced before. The service was extremely slow, servers and manager were running in the dining room. We had no water for long periods of time. We were never asked how our food mid meal was or I would have said something. In total we had a person with us 4 times. For the prices and previous visits our expectations were set higher, and honestly had the food been better I could have let things pass but I don't think we will return
Very weird evening. Casa Sena apparently lost its liquor license 6/30 so no wine or spirits were on offer. The guy who greeted us couldn't find our OpenTable reservation (even though they had left a voice mail about the booze situation). And the place was practically empty. We felt badly for the poor staff (who counting tips that depend on having more paying customers). Our server had not been given any talking points or guidance on how to explain the situation.
