We stop in La Choza every time we are anywhere near Santa Fe. My fiancée says the red chile may be better than his New Mexican grandmothers! And yes…it’s hot. But the best kind of hot. Staff is not always the most welcoming or attentive, but the chile makes up for that.

Really enjoyed my visit to La Choza! I had one night in Santa Fe and chose this place based on quite a bit of research. Glad I went! I was really hoping for some Chile Rellenos but the server recommended the enchiladas after I asked for something I should not miss. So, I order a combo--one Chile Relleno and one blue corn pork enchilada. She was right. The enchilada was perfect but the chile relleno was off someway. I agree with most of the reviews in that everything was quite spicy but not unenjoyably so. I would recommend a stop here if passing through town. Heads up: the host was quoting guests 1-1.5 hour wait. As I was dining alone, I had a seat at the bar in 5 minutes.

La Choza is our favorite New Mexican restaurant in town. However it can be hit or miss, depending on what you order. Takeout is especially hit or miss. These days we only order the Pork Carne Adovada enchiladas. I think their red is much better than their green. One of my favorite reds in town. Get the sopaipilla as your side with your enchiladas and eat it with honey as soon as it comes out.
I can’t strongly recommend any other dishes, their Chile Relleno is good though.

We had an absolutely incredible experience here after a long, exhausting day with our kids. Despite a long wait due to the busy evening, the moment we were greeted by Luis, everything changed. He welcomed us with such genuine kindness, immediately learning our kids’ names and making them feel at ease by speaking Spanish with them and chatting about things they were excited about. He brought them chips and queso immediately and got our orders in as quickly as possible to help them with their hanger.
Luis didn’t just provide great service — he completely transformed the energy of our evening. By the time we left, our kids were blowing him kisses and begging to come back every day of our trip just to see him again.
The food was absolutely worth the wait, but it was Luis who made this one of the most memorable meals we’ve ever had. Thank you for turning our day around — we’ll never forget it.

Food is average for the prices. You can find same food in other places in the area. Oregano was overwhelming in the rice and pozole. Too long of a wait. Service was ok.

THIS RESTUARANT IS AMAZING!!! I love this place and it is so good. Everything is great! First the serve your chips and salsa and you can ask for queso and it is great. Then they have a huge variety of Mexican food. I usually get the chicken taquitos with a side of refried beans and Spanish rice and it is so good. The taquitos have just the right amount of cheese and chicken! Also the rice and refried beans are always good. They also have pozole which is really good and authentic! I've also gotten their enchiladas and they are really good as well. There is so much more. They also give you a choice of their famous sopapillas and their garlic bread and it is so hard to choose. Their garlic bread is better than some Italian places! But, their sopapillas are hard to pass up on! I also suggest filling the sopapillas with honey for desert. Then you can also order desert( you can get more sopapillas) Their desert is really good! Then the service is awesome and we're even friends with a bar tender named Danielle and she is great. We're also friends with a guy named Daniel! They're both great! The atmosphere is also great and there is a lot of people. They should bring reservations back. For some reason they stopped allowing you to make reservations but it is still awesome! 5 stars.

A fantastic New Mexican restaurant. I tried their green chile stew, chile relleno, carne adovada, and all of them were so fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed their sopaipilla with honey, which was also very good. Highly recommended!
