Dietary restrictions: I can't eat garlic or onion, which makes life difficult when eating out. The chef was able to accommodate me with a delicious meal. So happy we dined at Midtown Bistro

I (we) have frequented Midtown Bistro for many years. We have celebrated New Years eve dinners there, brought people from UNM there for lunch, spent Birthdays there and many more special occasions. This most frequent visit was lunch. My Friend ordered the pasta of the day and I ordered salmon. Her pasta was to "die for" as she described it, and my lunch was mediocre at best. The salmon was fine, but the "risotto was dull and very ordinary. The romescu sauce was not appealing at all. We also brought out of town friends for dinner in February. They knew Midtown from years of visiting and also thought their dinner was mediocre. I was not going to spend my friends Birthday lunch at Midtown, she insisted on going to Midtown because she had never been there. I was happy she loved the pasta of the day. I hate to say I would not recommend Midtown, but I feel let down. Thank you.

My husband and I split the ahi tuna appetizer, the rib eye with an enchilada and key lime pie. It was the perfect amount and so tasty! The rib eye was so tender.

Disappointed

Food was not what I expected from this upscale place. The Calamari was so tough I could not eat it. The fries looked well done and tasted burnt. The food runner quickly placed my main plate on the side of the table because a bread plate was in front of me. He did not ask if I could remove the bread plate and he was gone before I could help. I reached for my plate and had to drop it because it was too hot to move. Very disappointing and over priced.

We love this place and eat here regularly. While the food was outstanding as always, unfortunately we dined on same day a large school group did so there was no parking left and we had to wait an hour for our food. This has happened before when they were overbooked. Though our waitress was kind and apologetic, nothing was comped on our bill for the extremely long wait. Not even the iced tea or dessert. This would have at least made us feel our loyalty hadn't been misplaced. We will continue to dine here, but will be sure to inquire first whether there are any large groups as they are not equipped to manage them.

Probably the worst experience I've had in fine dining in Santa Fe. We had a reservation at 6:30. It was really clear they were understaffed, and we didn't see our server till 6:50.. understandable. He let us know it was going to be "at least 20 min because we have a party of over 20 people". We let him know we knew what we wanted and ordered immediately, and it would be no problem. We didn't get our food till 8:15, so of course during that time, we ordered drinks and bread to fill a void lol. We didn't end up getting closed out till 9:10. Upon having some issues with this, we were told "well our grill is like the size of the table, and I told you you were all going to have to wait". No comp, no validation, just the same $339 tab, and my in laws still tipped because they're good people. I called today to get this taken care of, and was told I can get a free dessert when I go back. Lmao

Our meals were excellent and the service was not rushed, rather, so well spaced. The Avocado Caesar salad was excellent and the New Zealand Rack of Lamb, as well. Lastly, the slice of Key Lime Pie was plated beautifully and it was delicious. The bartender definitely created a most enjoyable dirty martini. My husband began with a delicious salad, then devoured his Osso Bucco, and ended with a gorgeous and scrumptious carrot cake. We love the ambience here and look forward to returning.

We visited Midtown Bistro for dinner during Restaurant Week, and ordered the Osso Buco. We've been here before and have had their Osso Buco several times, and in the past it has been outstanding - one of our favorite dishes. However, this time (the first day of Restaurant Week here in Santa Fe), the Osso Buco was not ready for serving, but they served it anyways: it was dry, tough, lacking taste, and just not a good meal overall. It was unfortunate because we will have to think twice before we return to Midtown Bistro for their Osso Buco. The server did not ask us once how our meal was or if we needed anything, even though we were there at 5PM and the place was mostly empty, just a handful of tables with other patrons. Too bad - we will probably hesitate to recommend this place for their Osso Buco in the future.

Overall a very good experience. Food was very good and timing between courses was good as well. A little bit of a wobble when only 2 of the entrees came out and we had to wait a few minutes for the other 2.

Restaurant Week menu: Choice of soup or salad - 4 of our party of 6 had the avocado caesar salad. Salad needed more avocado, parmesan and dressing. It was bland. Entree course: Scottish salmon was tasty; osso buco was a bit dry; steak with enchiladas was devoured; ribeye with green chile potatoes was a great entree. The ribeye was enormous topped with a rich demi glaze; potatoes had just enough chile. The winner in the dessert course was a large slice of moist carrot cake. The creme in the creme brule was clotted and the topping was a lit burnt. Service was attentive; decor classy upscale.

Delilah's service was excellent as always. The food was good. My wife had the Cobb salad which looked wonderful. It was so big she shared a few bites with me. My chicken taquitos weren't as good as the salad but still tasty.

The owner should have said on the reservation that they were not using their regular but a 'restaurant week' menu. He set up a table for three, they read the menu & walked out. I asked them & they said they didn't want that limited menu. Another table did the same when i asked them. I will not return there again after this. The meal was only OK. Obviously the chef has never been to Milan, Italy and doesn't know what a real osso bucco should be. The meat was dry & not falling off the bone as in Lombardy, Italy. I don't eat desserts but took it home for my grandson. I felt ripped off &should have left as the other patrons did.

We went for Santa Fe's Restaurant Week and they created a wonderful menu. We had the root vegetables and watercress salad to start, the ribeye with green chile mashers, and key lime pie for dessert. It was delicious and the service unmatched. Definitely will return soon.
