I was lucky enough to hear about this place from a store owner in the town of Madrid, NM. The restaurants there where I had planned to eat didn't open till noon and the crowds and tour buses were annoying with traffic and parking. When the store owner recommended the San Marcos Cafe, I went there instead and WHAT A JOY. Amazing food - I had the green chile stew - the cup and it was huge and made a full meal - and it came with a side of tortillas and some guacamole. Truly...
I told my wife that breakfast was going to be at a feed store. She was skeptical to say the least. Then we walked in the door and she was blown away by the charm. And then we were blown away by our breakfast. Absolutely worth the stop if you're in Santa Fe. Oh, the empty plate? What's left of my Benedict.
Food was delicious and service was excellent. They have a limited menu, mostly breakfast items that you can get anytime. We had their famous cinnamon roll, huevos rancheros, and French toast. They atmosphere was fun and felt like we were eating in an old west Santa Fe pueblo.
