Incredible restaurant with amazing food and outstanding service!!!
Great atmosphere, service, and good food. It was a little strange the lobster in the bisque had been marinated / tasted like vinegar. Everything else was great.

I have had good experiences at the Compound but not this evening. The service was horrible. The waiter was one of worst in my long life—he just didn’t care; not present; and oblivious. What should have been a great experience was ruined by the wait staff.

The food is delicious. I enjoy coming here whenever I am in town. Lots of interesting people. Nice staff. Great service. I will tell you to make sure you do Not count on the accuracy of their website menus. I picked out what I wanted to eat and choose to go,
this time, based on what I wanted to eat. I was excited about it. Ended up being their spring menu and nothing I wanted was available. I, of course, found some delicious options. But in my opinion the dinner menu has way too heavy food for the heat.
I will always come back. I urge you to try it. Just note my comments. Recommendations: onion rings, chile burger, and a very nice
gentleman let me try his chicken schnitzel; It was sooooo amazing! I would come back for that and onion rings. Top it off with a spicy margarita.
We recently dined at The Compound and were thoroughly impressed. The evening began with a flavorful lobster crab cake appetizer, followed by perfectly cooked lamb—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. For dessert, we enjoyed both the crème brûlée and chocolate cake, each prepared to perfection.
The service was outstanding; our server was attentive, quick to refill drinks, and ensured everything ran smoothly. The only drawback was the atmosphere being a bit loud, but it didn’t overshadow the overall experience. Excellent food, excellent service—definitely worth a visit.

Inside the place is a bit dated, cute and some charm buttons carpet throughout. Comfortable seating, attentive staff and overall good. We have a large group of about 50 people with a pre fixed menu. The lobster was overcooked and the halibut was delicious along with the tuna tar tar.

The restaurant is lovely and convenient as it has parking available for guests, a good thing given its location off Canyon Rd. Wine prices are high, but the selection is good, but not for wines below $100. I had a tomato salad appetizer which was rather feeble. Tomatoes weren’t very tasty and the feta cheese wasn’t special. My wife ordered the cacio pepe pasta as her entrée. It had a generous shaving of truffle on it but, unfortunately it wasn’t hot. When she sent it back, the chef had the server tell her it’s supposed to be served at room temperature. That’s a bunch of BS. I’m Italian American, made the dish myself and we’ve eaten it many times including in Italy and it’s always served hotter than room temperature. I ordered the Osso Buco and found it to be OK-nothing special, and the accompaniments were roasted vegetables that also were average. Bottom line: we’ve eaten here for lunch a number of times and found it good. We will not be going back for dinner. Maybe it was a bad night but at the prices they charge, I’m not forgiving.

This restaurant has a great reputation and that is reflected in the reviews. Sadly my experience was not great.
I went with a friend from out of state who asked me to pick the dining experience. She wanted to eat early as she anticipated being starving after her flight. It was a surprise that this restaurant offered an early bird prix-fixe meal and we both opted for it. That was a mistake. Quite possibly if we had stuck to the main menu we would have had an entirely different experience.
We both had the corn soup and the steak. When we ordered the waiter made a show of checking his watch to make sure we were within the time window. When he told me my steak would be medium rare I asked for what that meant as different chefs have different ideas of how rare steak should be served. He said red but warm in the middle. I asked if it could be slightly more done than warm in the middle and he said no. The chef would determine how done the steak should be. I considered a moment then said ok, I trust the chef.
When the steaks were served they were medium to medium well. Not medium rare. They also had no flavor whatsoever. No character. I asked for a steak knife rather than saw at the meat with a butter knife. The waiter told me I didn’t need a steak knife, but that of course they did have steak knives. I again requested the knife and he brought it over. It was not a true steak knife but a pointy tipped knife no sharper than the butter knife.
The dessert was fabulous. A coffee mousse with a chocolate shell, a small circle pour of caramel and crushed pistachios. While we were having dessert parties were seated on either side of us and the noise of their chatter made further conversation between us impossible.
I have asked myself several times if I would choose to go back and give this place another try. Each time I have thought nope.

Have visited many times over the years but now that we live in the neighborhood, we love walking over for dinner in the evenings or bringing out-of-town friends for Friday lunch.
Chef and staff are fabulous! The food is incredible as are the cocktails and wine list. Such a cozy upscale restaurant. I am a foodie and I love the Compound. Don't forget about the very cool bar that attracts so many of us locals!!!!!
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Try sitting at the bar. Everyone talks to each other so it's a great way to meet new people. Lately I had the frog legs which I found to be the best I've ever had! Robin B.
For many years we have enjoyed the Compound. So much so, that we had our wedding dinner there on your outside patio for 14 people May 17th, 2014. It was a wonderful meal and a magical evening. Since then we often go for special occasions. Service, ambiance, and cuisine are always top notch.
Thank you so much for being such a special place!

Married in 2013 when NM granted LBGTQ+ marriages. Our reception luncheon at the Compound in 2013 was very special, warmly served and celebratory. Every year since then with the exception of one we have celebrated our anniversary with our beloved witnesses Doug and Martha. Wouldn’t miss it for the world. The Compound is our special place, special memories, special lunch and a welcoming staff.
