Have visited many times over the years but now that we live in the neighborhood, we love walking over for dinner in the evenings or bringing out-of-town friends for Friday lunch.

Chef and staff are fabulous! The food is incredible as are the cocktails and wine list. Such a cozy upscale restaurant. I am a foodie and I love the Compound. Don't forget about the very cool bar that attracts so many of us locals!!!!!

This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Try sitting at the bar. Everyone talks to each other so it's a great way to meet new people. Lately I had the frog legs which I found to be the best I've ever had! Robin B.

For many years we have enjoyed the Compound. So much so, that we had our wedding dinner there on your outside patio for 14 people May 17th, 2014. It was a wonderful meal and a magical evening. Since then we often go for special occasions. Service, ambiance, and cuisine are always top notch.
Thank you so much for being such a special place!

Married in 2013 when NM granted LBGTQ+ marriages. Our reception luncheon at the Compound in 2013 was very special, warmly served and celebratory. Every year since then with the exception of one we have celebrated our anniversary with our beloved witnesses Doug and Martha. Wouldn’t miss it for the world. The Compound is our special place, special memories, special lunch and a welcoming staff.

Superb softshell crab sandwich, and only 2,000 miles from Chesapeake! Service was, as always, exceptional. A really special place!

My lunch was a bit disappointing today. I had the Tuscan lettuce salad and stuffed quail. There was no sign of any truffle flavor ion the salad dressing, just plain lettuce, vinaigrette and few grape tomatoes. The quail was underwhelming. Overcooked, gamey taste and gritty texture. Not much flavor in the sauce either. I am posting a menu with prices picture. I don't understand why the resto doesn't post menu prices on the website.

We went to The Compound for lunch because of the Google reviews were good. When we got there we were seated very quickly. We had a reservation. Our waiter showed up quickly to explain the menu. My wife is gluten free. We placed our our orders with our waiter and he proceeded to try and sell us salads and soup. We declined and he continued to try and sell us the soup and salad. We again declined. My wife asked about gluten free bread. He said they only had gluten free crackers. She said ok she would like that. He said he’d go get them. Didn’t happen. I asked for lemon for my iced tea. That didn’t happen. We got the feeling that since we didn’t buy what he was selling he wasn’t interested in waiting on us anymore. For the prices they charge, The Compound wasn’t all that.

Just okay and doesn’t seem to be what it once was. Kind of a attitude like we are supposed to be privileged to be there. I think it needs to be stepped up a notch or two if they are going to have the higher prices. (At least no one spilled a drink on me without apologizing like happened last time.)

But this time, I was seated and then within a few minutes I was asked to move to another spot a short distance away. Like four feet. There really wasn’t anything special about either spot that I could tell but a couple of older ladies had to sit where we had been seated for some reason….and not in the spot we were moved to beside it. Weird.

Another oddity was I heard hostess tell some people there were completely full while the place was still empty from opening with only a couple tables seated. I know there has to be staggering to provide good service. I was curious so I looked on Open table and that still had open slots at that time. And the place was still at least half empty 90 minutes later when I left. Maybe just some odd managing techniques?

Usually 5 star. Not last night. Slow service. Table sat 15 minutes after us got their entres before we received our salads. Salads served and literally one minute later arrives.

Food was pretty good but our waiter was quite rude when we asked about gluten free options and again when my mom tried to order decaf coffee. Another staff was ironing a tablecloth in the dining room in front of us as we ate. The carpet is full of stains. And despite the hostess mentioning my birthday there was no mention by the waiter or dessert brought which seems pretty standard for most restaurants. For the price this place seems pretty rough around the edges.

Planned a nice birthday night dinner and from the beginning our server was late. The Appetizer we wanted was not available. We finally ordered our food and 10 min later we were told one of our main courses were also not available. We left and we DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
