One of the best fine dining restaurants we've been to for quite a while. The mole negro was fantastic, the lamb shank tender and came with a bean puree that was out of this world, the passion fruit gazpacho was inspired and complex. The pear salad and the dessert were just one shade less amazing, but still very, very well made. For the quality of the food the restaurant is not even very pricey and service was impeccable. Highly recommended.
If you make reservations, make sure to ask for the main dining room. Although we had reservations, we were put out in the cold porch extension of the house. The table for three that we were set at was a huge wooden picnic table type. Not only did it not have a tablecloth, but it was so wide that for three people it was not possible to carry on a conversation. I must admit, that after complaining about the table, the waiter made it the best he could, and put us in another Location...
Was really excited to try this place given the James Beard nomination and that it was recommended by a friend. We were a a bit disappointed with the atmosphere as it felt a little kitschy for a more upscale experience. We enjoyed the vegetable appetizer greatly, but were unfortunately disappointed with the cochinita pibil; the mole tasted more bland than other pibils we've had, including a handful in Mexico, but we appreciated that it was not oversalted.
