“Friendly folks. I don't typically like sugar cookies with icing, but this was one of the best sugar cookies I ever had. They were thicker than most sugar cookies in used to, but not quite cake like. They had the perfect balance for just the right amount of chewy. They were also just right level of sweet. You could taste multiple ingredients in them without one seemingly overwhelm the other. I'm definitely going to try to revisit before I return home to Albuquerque.“
“I was looking to purchase tamales to take home as a gift for my friend who has been watering my plants for me while I have been away for these past two weeks. Our friends here in Silver City recommended La Bonita, so that's why we chose it. What a wonderful little place. Not only did they have just what I was looking for, but I felt like I had made a new friend! We got into a delightful conversation, discussing "Mexican food" in NM, AZ and CA, the differences, challenges, etc. After sharing our stories, laughing and comparing, he gifted me a bag of his hand-made tortillas. Such a sweet young man, I just wanted to hug him! You can find "good food" at a lot of places, but it's even extra special when you also find "good people" too! Visit them, you won't regret it!“
“Diane's is probably the most sophisticated food in town but the owner has not reopened the restaurant since Covid. Go across the street to the bakery and get fresh pastries for breakfast and/or dessert and fresh sandwiches and salads for lunch to go. The breads are made fresh daily, the deli meats and cheeses are high quality.“
“Nice coffee and dessert nosh place near the hospital. The pastries, cupcakes are all fresh and if you like ice cream they have over a dozen flavors. Plus coffee and other life giving beverages. Okay, they don't actually give life but they do immeasurably improve it. We've been here 4-5 times now. The owner is lovely, and the staff are very accommodating on specialty orders. Nice background music and a decent parking lot. What's not to like?“
