My wife, I and our friend who is helping us drive from AZ to CO, and our cat needed a meal break from the road, and the internet recommended this place, (slight detour to Springer), but it was worth it. You get a good amount of food for your money, the prices are decent, the atmosphere and taste of the food reminds me of eating at a friend's older relatve's house where the owner is a good home cook. And the RESTROOMS WERE REALLY CLEAN!! If we come this way again, we will definitely stop there.

One of few places open Monday mornings! We were traveling back to Texas from NM and called ahead from Cimmaron to pick up breakfast for our road trip. What luck to stumble upon Zayra's. I LOVE NM sopapillas (the kind WITHOUT sugar and cinnamon, just fluffy fried tortilla) and you can tell these are homemade - fresh hot and fluffy. We all ate just plain bacon (or sausage) egg and cheese burritos and had Christmas salsa on the side (to spice to our own desire) and everyone loved them.
All very fresh and homemade. Homemade tortillas.
The food was prompt, service was nice and friendly.
The restaurant (and restroom) was VERY clean!
