Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We ate there last night and had the most enjoyable evening. We have eaten in many places in Taos and each has their own unique characteristics. Der Garten takes top spot though. Everything served under the watchful eye of executive chef Asia. The food was delicious and the love and care put into the creations very evident. Service was relaxed and amiable without being intrusive and atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Christof and Asia - thank you for such a wonderful and authentic experience!

Just across from the Taos slopes, this is an authentic “made from scratch” restaurant featuring excellent European cuisine. They take great care with the ingredients and have innovative specials (duck confit pasta, ahi tuna salade nicoise) and of course, bratwurst. The ginger carrot soup with Pepitos and fresh cream was truly delicious. Friendly service and a great sense of history from the pictures (and stories) here. Cozy!

The food was bland and overpriced, but the real issue was the rude staff. We were ignored upon arrival, and they made a scene about our stroller despite us being clear in advance. They complained about how inconvenient the stroller was, and then gloated about how far out of the way they were going to accommodate our sleeping baby. They never offered us a highchair. We felt stuck due to the $25 cancellation fee but regretted staying. Avoid this place!

A nice cozy place with a roaring fire. A great place to enjoy a nice dinner after a fun day of skiing. Food was great, but the service was not what I would expect from an establishment like this. It was a slow night at the restaurant and I had to flag our server down a couple of times because he was busy talking to other team members and seemed to not want to come by the table to refill drinks or bring us our check. But other than that, it was a good experience.

SOME OF THE BEST FOOD IVE EVER TASTED. Der Garten was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. We showed up with no reservation, and the staff was extremely accommodating on a full Saturday. The atmosphere is curated like a cozy ski cabin frozen in some time in the 1980s. The food was some of the best myself and my significant other have ever had. I will be back for sure the next time I am in Taos Ski Valley - it’s some of the best food I’ve ever had anywhere and an experience unlike any other.

Have eaten dinner here a few times. Seasonal menu is always fresh and delish. Staff are always friendly and service is great. Food in fantastic. It’s a small place run out of an old chalet’s actual kitchen and living room which gives it a unique feel that is like no other. Will keep coming back! Thanks der garden !

The coziest place in the valley. Eat an incredibly delicious, purely organic sandwich on their porch and talk with the staff the whole time. So many stories to tell, inviting, and comfortable place to visit. This was a highlight of our trip. The food is remarkable, the service incredible, and the location matches each. Can't miss.
